The series of attacks carried out by rebels over the last one year in Jammu and Kashmir has been an unsolved riddle for the security forces and the intelligence agencies.

There has been a pattern since May 2013, when rebels have crossed the border and carried out fidayeen attacks. But there is no clarity on how they managed to sneak in.

Forces on the ground and intelligence agencies have not been able to identify the points of infiltration.

Many of these attacks have taken place in Jammu along the International Border (IB) leading to an assumption that they managed to infiltrate through these areas. But the Border Security Force (BSF) says there is no prima facie evidence to suggest that infiltration has taken place through IB.

Sources said most of the border is fenced and about 7 km is not fenced in Jammu due to the terrain which could be a vulnerable area.

"We conducted searches and every inch of the border has been reviewed. But there is no sign of the fence being cut or traces that can suggest that infiltration has happened," said top BSF officer.

BSF claims that areas that are not fenced are always heavily manned and if an infiltration takes place through these areas then there will be an exchange of fire. "Our review does not even indicate this," the officer added. "While there are inputs on infiltration attempts that have been foiled, there is nothing to suggest that where rebels had attacked they came through the International Border."

Even intelligence agencies like the Intelligence Bureau and Research and Analysis Wing have not provided any specific intelligence on this. Even the Army manning the Line of Control (LoC) has ruled out any possibility of penetration since a counter infiltration grid - a multi-layered mechanism - ensures that there cannot be any infiltration.

But sources say that the IB is certainly more vulnerable to infiltrations and it will continue to be so in the future. Rebels are attempting to find new routes to infiltrate from across the border. According to ground intelligence, Sambha, Ramgarh, Narayanpur checkpoint, Arnia, Akhnoor and Kathua in Jammu are highly vulnerable spots.

the news says that BSF don't know where exactly the infiltration occurs, that doesn't mean that it is not happening.

. . .
BSF are well known for not knowing how much the Indian border extends or how armed and unarmed people look like.

That's great, completely change the title to your liking.

I bet the drug bust was an evil ploy by BSF, actually the drugs found are what BSF make to malign the good ol name of Pakistan.

the news says that BSF don't know where exactly the infiltration occurs, that doesn't mean that it is not happening.
Actually, it says that infiltration was ruled out from the IB, and vulnerable non-fenced areas both, by the BSF and military forces manning the vulnerable areas.

. .
Hmm looks like it's gonna be hard to back up those claims of taking out several hundred infiltrators in very short spaces of time. All without fuss and any casualties on the BSF's side. Not surprising when you think about it.

Locals? With sophisticated gear and training? Guess they got it on the internet.
AK's are "sophisticated" gear? What would you call the insurgents with M-16s n FN's in North East indian States?

Also most of the bodies/remains of these insurgents or freedom fighters are claimed by local KAshmiris and mourned by thousands n buried with dignity .., wonder why!

AKs are sophisticated since we have no gun culture here and the new fedayeens are not like the old once. Sure Kashmiris will accept some bodies, some terrorists might be local but they get training and weaponry from our neighbor and then sent over here to meet their 72 virgins. Haha As for the bold part it is so funny when you guys get your panties in a bunch when the same is done by populace who support taliban or Baloch freedom fighters :p . And more over what do you think those unmarked graves are? It contains dead and rotting citizens from our neighbor to the west. Stop justifying terrorist acts, if you guys want Kashmir send in your army we will respect them and fight with them but sending terrorists like this is already biting you guys in the back.
