Indian Army finally starts rifle trials

. .
:hitwall::hitwall:Did you even read my post?? OFB SLR is an Indian license made FN FAL, I've said that in my first post itself. FN FAL was successfully used as the standard issue rifle of the Indian Army for several years from the 1970s to the 1990s.Later it was replaced by the Indian made INSAS rifle which is the current standard issue.
Basically a good weapon, AK-47 was bug--d by ARDE,etc by incorporating bits and pieces of FN-FAL, HK- 33, etc to make it look like a great invention of India. For ages IA has been yelling to replace this unreliable weapon. Now Indian planners have at last reconciled to the reality that manufacturing a rifle is not their cup of tea. Therefore, a massive bid was issued to import rifles for the fourth largest army in the world.

India respected Copy right ....thats why they don't make AK-47 which even made by kids in PAK and evey where else in world.

INSAS was proved to be metal in kargil @ more then 15,000 ft. and now some indian made weapon finding to IA.

.
Pls made your own bl00dy rifles。

Is India saying to the world, loud and clear, that it can't make its own fcuking rifles?:D

If you are talking about the INSAS, it has proved itself with being in service with all the armed forces of India, and does not need your approval. You can either clear your misconception or happily continue with your BS

Sir it seems you have a chronic comprehension problem. First standard issue rifle for IA is made in India, second INSAS is a very good, reliable and ages ahead of AK 47 in accuracy and finally whatever IA select as a future weapon it will be made in India.

Lets not derail the thread further. Whatever you choose to believe is your own problem. I shared my observation and any weapons expert who has actual experience with firearms will be able to tear this rifle into threads and tell which part came from where.

MICWAS is a redesigned ACE as per Indian specs (cheaper). The obvious overall visual similarities aside, from the Muzzle break, to flip up sights, handguard, gas operating mechanism, lower and upper receivers, rail placement, LOS alignment, butstock and pistol grip. They are of higher quality in ACE and of lower quality in MICWAS. The reason for that maybe because the IA might want to utilize its existing tooling to fabricate these firearms to keep them simple, cheap, easy to operate and easy to produce. Despite the much touted multi caliber specs, i as personally fail to see any merit of having a rifle with multiple calibres being brought into the battlefield. MultiCal rifles are well suited for Special Ops only.

Sir, I ain't no an weapon expert but I have used most of these guns. These days almost all the modern assault rifles have only one mechanism that is "Gas Operated Rotating Bolt Action" taken from the revered AK-47. Almost all rifle use this mechanism, naming few COLT M1, M14, M16, L85A2, AK-47/74, INSAS, IRAN KH-2002, CZ-805 BREN and guess what IWI Galil too (Two of these are being used in ongoing trials):coffee:

It would be not offending to say MICWAS design is somewhat copy of Galil but then again what is Galil? Isn't it also copy of AK with 100% same mechanism, with just little improvisation in outer casing. That's what every arm manufacturer is doing these days, copy the legendary- AK add some frills and sell it at 20 times higher cost:big_boss:

Use of Carbon fiber in body has been very common these days to reduce weight. Guns obviously looks deadly with sight but they are too costly to be mounted on every gun.

Also I agree with your multiple caliber point, I have already told in my earlier post its just useless, even for special ops.
I mean how many different types of ammunition, I m going to carry along with me. And am I going to change the barrel of my weapon before or during ops:D

Well a little correction here mate, the first Rifle 7.62 mm 1A1 manufactured in Ishapore Factory was inducted in 1964 as a part of the over all modernization plan of the Indian Army.
