Indian Army "Faked" Battle of Laungewalla

Great, so it is faked?

Good, what?

The sad part is the outcome of the battle and the dead and the burnt tanks that thought it was a cakewalk to take on the Indians is what counts, what ho?

So, who lost in this battle? India or Pakistan?

Nothing to get one's pant wet with excitement.

The bottom line counts!!

So long as one gets that, it is fine.

It is called Lessons Learnt in the military!!

Yes, indeed. But Indian soldiers didn't do anything but waited to be overrun. Why steal the credit from IAF? But for all we know their back up did come to provide them air support (good work!). Lesson for PAF is to keep its bases operational and cover armour as long as it can get.

Credit should be given where it is due. PAF bombed the IAF bases and most modern IAF planes were destroyed on ground, and didn't even get to fly.

It is indeed called lessons learned in the military! The bottom line counts indeed.

The book by the Pakistani Brigadier should be adequate.

In any war, there are ups and downs.

The end result - victory - is what matters!

That is the whole point, they were there waiting instead of backing off when faced with enormous armour and infantry formations.

Yes, sadly many people here don't recognise the enormous contribution of IAF. As far as I know , any Indian who is interested in millitary affiars does appriciate and gives credit to IAF.

True , IAF should be given credit for winning the war and IA should be given the credit of staying put in their ground.

PAF bombed the IAF bases and most modern IAF planes were destroyed on ground, and didn't even get to fly.

Are you talking about the pre emptive raid by PAF against Indian airbases in the eastern sector, Didn't the attack fail in neutralising IAF in eastern sector ?

All soldiers are to be positioned where they are suppose to. There is a standard. The other is what cowards do best.

Correct, but how about waiting there without reinforcements, How about strategically retreating when knowing thoughly that your recce has come across thousands of soldiers and an entire armour division and in the process regrouping and hitting back or asking for more reinforcements.

There are many probabilities any one in that situation faces, what if our aircover fails to do its duty? what if they outflank the base? what if they simply overrun it ?

Until withdrawal is ordered by the higher authorities, there is no way one can take a decision on his own!!

I can understand sir. The question is did they ever request for withdrawl after their recce has contacted the opposition.

The question is Mr.Webmaster, if the Indian soldiers were cowards, why couldn't the pakistani battle force neutralize the Indian position and advance on instead of waiting till morning for the IAF to bomb them?
Even the IAF acknowledges that their hunter jets did not have night fighting capabilities.

The Paksitani Army was apparently not up to the mark.

Said on hindsight.

Any armour can overrun a company of infantry.

Well, that is what is the way it appears.

If the Pakistanis failed to do so, the question that begs an answer is - why?

Absolutely!!! if one answers "why" therein lies the answer for this topic.

Mig-Ace,

You missed my post---a one liner---pakistani tankers had the 2nd world war habbit of not operating the tanks at night---that is what they were doing---resting for the night---cost themsleves the initiative, their machinery and ultimately their lives.

Actually my question was not put to you but to the person who started posting the crap about Indian soldiers being cowardly.

But I was not aware of this habit that you have talked about. if that was the case then why did the planners decide to attack at night. It doesn't make sense.Or am I missing something here? :what:
