NEW DELHI: Indian army chief expressed reservations over ongoing operation against extremists in Waziristan.

What type of news report this is??
So short and without any substance. This is incredibly crazy!
No mention where he said this. How he said this.
What an utter crap article. The editor is not skilled i must say.

. .
^^looks like the Indian chief got nothing to do !!!

. . .
This Indian chief is the biggest clown i've seen.Poking his *** everywhere.

Well, for a moment think beyond jingoism an childish name calling.

What is the easiest way for the TTP and allied terrorist group to create a distraction for PA from the offensive in SW??
Orchestrate an attack in India, escalating tension and troop build-up in border area. PA will also be drawn to the border and the focus is easily shifted from SW.
This offensve also creates an indirect threat for India, as stated .-

Should he not have expressed reservations about the possibility of terrorists attacking India then, instead of reservations about the operation intended to eliminate the terrorists?

Weird.

Well first of all the news reporting itself is weird and shallow. additionally trying to search for detailed comment this is what I came across:

Even as the Taliban forces have been cornered by the Pakistan army in Waziristan and New Delhi fears their diversion towards India, the Indian army chief on Monday reassured the nation that it was prepared for any eventuality.

Army chief General Deepak Kapoor said India was aware of the problem and was prepared to handle the situation. He said there was a possibility of turbulence in Pakistan spilling over to India.

General Kapoor said, "We always expect a peaceful and a stable neighbour, but in the times of turbulence we might see some spill over in India."

"We will counter the Taliban if they try to enter India," he said, adding that disturbance in a nation affects its neighbours also.

Earlier in the day, Defence Minister A.K. Antony said, "The situation in Pakistan is serious and terrorism is spreading. We are always prepared to meet any challenge to our territorial integrity and national security from any quarter. Our security forces are keeping eternal vigilance."

India's concerns attain significance in the wake of a recent statement by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, wherein he had offered Pakistan to become a Sharia state and snap ties with the US to get its terror diverted towards India.

It would have helped if the news posted the entire "Reservation" comment instead of a snippet.

Well... that's Pakistani media for you.

Actually, the one of few differences between Indian media and Pakistani media is that the former cites quotations and then makes inferences (though inaccurate quite a few times) while the latter will distort the entire news-piece to serve its own bias and propaganda.

Don't fly into a tizzy of bashing the Pak media over this.

The link was to the 'News Updates' section of 'The News'.

They usually post small and concise updates in that section, as the news breaks, and later provide more details as they become available.

So your latter comment is completely out of place and a 'distortion to serve your own bias and propaganda'.

I don't know why you edited your earlier comment, mentioning similar trends in Indian and Pakistani Media??

I agreed to it to a greater extent. It seems the commercial interest has taken over the Indian media, which has become increasingly war mongering and aggressive which a developing nation like India can ill afford. It seems they are waiting for a war to happen, just to see a rapid rise in their TRPs and ratings.

I "reserve" my comments about Pakistani media for later :toast_sign:

Well... I went through other "updates" and they seemed to be adequately informative with proper citations. Somehow this piece wasn't.

Anyways... that was my opinion. Indian media isn't very great in this regard either.
