It's just a courtesy offer. Nothing serious to be taken and BD army is not fool to cooperate with enemy in defence. Al may be pro-bharat but BD army ain't.

Bhratis presence irritating alot of Bd's and Al will face the music soon for too much mingling with enemy.

Indian and Bangladeshi forces are co-operating in many ways for many years.

Many BD officers and soldiers are attending various training programes in India.

Under UN missions both armed forces are doing lot of joint tasks together.

India has been always the first country to respond to BD in the cases of natural dissters and the relief work is carried out by Indian Armed Forces.

Dont fool others with your personal hatred.

It is definitely a positive step to build closer links between the two. And in my opinion, India will always have good relations with Bangladesh provided the obnoxious BNP is kept out of power.

This is exactly what agitates the Bangladeshi people(and others too), when you always want good relations only on your terms.

In this way you can never win the hearts and minds of the common masses of Bangladesh. BNP is a political force in Bangladesh, good or bad, its only to be decided by the banagla people and this right is only reserved to them. And so is their right to keep them in or out of power, not you guys.

Adios no body is saying Bangladesh in incapable..a reserve of $10 does say a lot about their capability..But under the Khalida Zia rule relation between our countries was worst than ever..Anti-India elements were making Bangladesh their safe heaven..Now you can see many of them arrested and send back to India..And also the current government is choose by the Bangladesh people themselves..

You are damn right about that, and i totally agree with you on that, but then wont it be hypocrisy when some buddy in the name friendship serves their own interests??
BTW check that afghan poll thread where i openly welcomed Indian presence in a war broken country Afghanistan, in contrast Bangladesh by the grace GOD is a progressing sovereign country, so you guys need to put in more confidence in Bangladeshi people and built in mutual trust, like you said about safe haven against India which surely builds mistrust ,and treat them as sovereign nation to choose god or bad. And of-course they are not crazy to choose bad.

India's will to assist in modernizing BAF is appreciated.....but i still would like to see BD upgrading with russian and chinese help rather then India.....just my thought.....cannot be sure however, as AL is in power.....

If long term friendship has to prevail,India should look forward to making friend with all the parties and in the process with the people of Bangladesh.Making friend with one party doesn't look good.So their steps should be for the good of Bangladeshi people.

On the other hand,BNP should not remain with their "anti-India" movement just to gain vote.They should learn to appreciate the good processes and criticise when necessary.

As for the topic,well its still just an offer and I wonder Bangladesh will take it.The reason being it might anger China and most of our military equipment are Chinese.

Bangladesh overhauls 3 Mi-17s locally and are planning to increase the capacity.And as for Migs,they are overhauled in Ukraine and Russia.
For migs,if the costs of overhauling comes down in HAL,who knows they might accept it.
But there is a strategic point to take into account.For that reason I don't think BD military will go for the offer.
