In the aftermath of Winter Storm Blair, our Airmen assigned to the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron worked diligently to clear the flight line and base roads of snow and ice. Though weather may not always be in our favor, #TeamWhiteman is always ready to project global strike capabilities... anytime, anywhere!

Severe cold wave grips Hazara

ABBOTTABAD: A severe cold wave has gripped the Hazara Division following a week of rain and snowfall, with temperatures dropping to sub-zero levels across the region. Abbottabad recorded a low of -1°C, while higher areas saw even harsher conditions, with temperatures plunging to -4°C.

The snowfall has made the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road, particularly from Naran to Babusar Top, impassable for all types of vehicles. Authorities have urged travellers to avoid unnecessary movement in these areas due to slippery roads and the risk of avalanches.

The extreme cold has also strained local residents, especially in urban areas, where low gas pressure and high demand have led to a gas load management plan. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations are undergoing two-day weekly closures, along with daily shutdowns of up to 11 hours. However, the gas supply situation has shown some improvement compared to previous years, allowing many residents to use gas heaters and ovens simultaneously for relief.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the cold spell will persist, with more snow and rain expected in the upper Hazara region.
