What's new

India will require second production line for new Nuclear submarines

Is the new SSN going to be an indegenous design, or a copy of the Akula-2? Or a derivative of the Akula-2? Do we have the knowhow to design an SSN from scratch? Are Russians assisting us?

I have no idea about the costs, but let me point out that 1.6 billion dollars is not 161 million dollars. Thousand million is a billion, so 161 million is a lot less than that. 1.6 billion dollars = 1600 million dollars.

yeah you add one zero after 161 thanks

BARC must be working on INS Vishal's nuclear reactor by now i guess?

Chakra is 12000 tons( submerged) so he is not wrong too.
LINKKKKKK???????????
No, there were talks that Aridhman is larger than Arihant. It carries more missiles.
There were rumours created by typical Indian journos. It was said that the next class after Arihant would have double the missiles. The journalist took it that the next sub after Arihant would.

All the 3 in line. .One in tests and 2 more under production. .are called arihant class subs.

Arihant-class submarine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Its called that in Wiki :P ............ IN might not really call them that. Arihant is supposed to be a technological demonstrator.

Since these are experimental models it is very likely that the second one might be larger than the first. Just saying. There were enough talks stating that is so.

Completely wrong
Aridhman is Arihant class sub. No change at all. INS Chakra (Akula I improved) is only 8000 tons.

Can you paste the source? Thanks. I didn't really follow it up except initial reports and words of it being a bigger class.

It is simply Arihant class and has been referred to as such by the Navy. That in it self should tell everything.
Google is your friend. BTW Ins Chakra is an Akula II and not Akula I improved.

SSN Akula Class (Bars Type 971) Nuclear Submarine - Naval Technology
Fine. 13K tons submerged..

As for Akula I vs Akula II, there was an interesting discussion on wiki about this. Might wanna go through it.

A-1 is the TD .
A-2 which is Arihant under sea trail
A-3 Almost completely Aridhaman
A-4 is under construction in advanced stages .

Real tonnage of Arihant may well be beyond 6000 t . Aridhaman will have double the capability of A-2 if am not wrong

That was a dumb post.We already have expertise in nuke sub production. So further new SSBN is just a matter of time.

Of course India is an expert in nuclear subs. Even the US need to learn from India.

Don't display your butt hurt here .

If you have something valuable to add post it , otherwise don't bother .

Just because you are obsessed about India doesnot mean you have to write senseless posts in every single thread ./
