IMO while the Chinese may express concern or what ever about this Ladakh reagion, realisticly they have absolutely no intention to take any land from India, they dont really care about some under developed reagion with a population of few hundred thousand even if they are mongoloid people.
I have no doubt that China is willing to reach a deal with India in which they both drop their claims & get to rule what ever land that they already controll, but its some what like what a Chinese general said.. the problem with India is that its a democratic country so even if China unilaterlay withdrew its claims Modi & his party still cant make any concesions & wont drop their claims because if they do then they would be labeled as traitors to India & they would lose popularity & thus elections & on top of that they still shelter the Dilai Lama.

as for what is best for the people of Ladakh.. I think any non biased person would tell you that the living standards in Ladakh would be 10 times better if they become part of China.

the Chinese have an old saying "dont spit in your neighbor's house because in the future you might need to drink water from him" or something like that, its better for China & India to be allies, sure India is much weaker than China but it's still a very big country & in the future they will grow.

China had never made an official statement on Ladakh before. Thanks to Modi and unintelligent frustrated hindutvas, China has officially laid claim to lands in Ladakh as well. Chinese claims aren't for show and fluff like indian claims....Chinese follow through on their claims...whether its SCS or other areas. They dont just talk. They do some action always.

Best of luck dealing with PLA up in Ladakh and dealing with PA in Kashmir simultaneously for DECADES to come. Modi's 370 move provides no defacto benefit to india but opens a can of worm on geopolitical and possibly internal fronts.

India on Tuesday warned China that the government's contentious move to strip Kashmir of its autonomy and split the region into two parts was an "internal matter" after Beijing slammed the "unilateral" decision.

India, Pakistan and China claim all or parts of the disputed Himalayan region, with New Delhi's announcement on Monday sparking a fierce response from its two nuclear neighbors.

Beijing was particularly critical of India's decision to turn Kashmir's mostly Buddhist region of Ladakh into an administrative territory directly ruled by New Delhi.

"China is always opposed to India's inclusion of the Chinese territory in the western sector of the China-India boundary into its administrative jurisdiction," Foreign Ministry spokeswomen Hua Chunying said.

"Recently India has continued to undermine China's territorial sovereignty by unilaterally changing its domestic law. Such practice is unacceptable and will not come into force."

India says China is illegally occupying 38,000 square kilometers (15,000 square miles) of its northwestern territory, while Beijing claims a 90,000-square-kilometer chunk of Arunachal Pradesh state in northeast India.

The Indian government said Ladakh's new designation as a "union territory" was "an internal matter concerning the territory of India."

"India does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise," Indian foreign ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar said.

He added that both sides had committed to maintaining "peace and tranquility in the border areas".

The disputed borders between India and China have been the subject of fruitless talks since 1962, when the two nations fought a brief but brutal war over the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said late Tuesday his government had fulfilled a longstanding demand of the people of Ladakh to be declared a territory of India's union.

"Special congratulations to the people of Ladakh!," Modi tweeted.

"This decision will give impetus to the overall prosperity of the region and ensure better developmental facilities."
