India vs China - a comparative statistica

Then use technology or something. Find a way. It is a struggle but you have to overcome. I dont have the answers neither does America. But you must find a way and that too quickly. I believe using IT is the best way to tackle corruption as everything is there on a system and evidence can be recorded for effective prosecution, should there be any malfeasance. Rapid implementation of IT in governance using India's famed IT companies might be the real solution. Or perhaps even learn from China's judicial system? How are they tackling corruption when the power structure there is so much similar to India? Maybe this is the area where ordinary Indians could get help from Chinese. Just my thoughts.

I believe the biometric system currently being implemented to map out the billion plus Indians is a step in the right direction and aimed at curtailing corruption, espcially with respect to those schemes that target povery allevation, health and nutrition....

The only problem is that a mammoth task of mapping 1 Billion people will take sometime and there will be errors....but for a change, I am happy the GOI is taking steps keeping the future in mind.

My hope is Developing countries like Brazil, Russia, India, China will provide the much needed scientific breakthroughs of the 21st century. The effort behind quality education will pay off big dividends

China is very strong in "Manufacturing" compared to India and produces 3 times the industrial output. Not overall. I think it is important to be rational and scientific in discussions. I do not consider producing massive amounts of cheap goods for the world to consume as "powerful". Not everyone agrees with this cheap manufacturing led consumption. I really do not think we want another cheap manufacturing led manufacturing from India. Better to produce quality products and pay fair wages. keeps everything, including the environment, in balance. Will Indians pay heed? Only time will tell.

The problem is, there aren't quality products in India. India does not have the ability to produce quality products. China does. China produces the 2nd amount of scientific papers and 3rd amount of patents in the world. Most of our exports aren't even the cheap stuff like we had 15 years ago, now it's mostly steel, chemicals, electronics, machine tools, shipbuilding, etc. low tech stuff like textiles make up only 6% of our exports in value. Our high tech stuff, except consumer electronics, is not displayed the way Japan's is. We make mostly capital goods like construction equipment, railway cars, generators, telecom equipment, chemical reactors, boilers, machine tools, military planes, shipbuilding, satellites, etc. When you talk about service in India, you're probably thinking of call centers and programming outsourcing. Services in China are things like IC design, engineering contracting, satellite launches, geophysical mapping, finance, etc.

India isn't behind China due to wages. China's average wages are 3x-4x that of an Indian worker. India is behind due to corruption, lack of electricity, high illiteracy, low average calorie intake and worst of all, a brutal form of exploitation that pays a tiny elite huge salaries while keeping the rest of the population in starvation.

Like you said, we have to measure quality and not just quantity. So think about those "roads" in india vs the "roads" in China, and think about the "rail" in India vs the "rail" in China, and we can talk. One is famous for being the fastest in the world, 30% faster than the 2nd fastest in Japan. The other is famous for being the slowest in the world.

List of countries by rail transport network size - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, our quantity is also greater. It's in fact 50% larger than India's. There is just no comparison. Look at electricity. List of countries by electricity production - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We're producing 4x that of India.

The differences between India can be summed up like this: they don't have our steel, they don't have our education, they don't have our electricity, they don't have our railroads and they don't have our government. A tiny elite is overpaid, the rest starve. Indian IT has not produced a single independent IT product. China's IT industry is worth 4x more and has produced thousands of independent software products. Indian IT is outsourcing of brainless coding, Chinese IT is creative design of new programs. This is reflected in the difference between China and India: India was forced to import Lockheed Martin's control software for the LCA, while China never even touches foreign control systems.

China is too powerful India so no need to compare.......
india is weaker then china russia and USA and everyone knows....these three countries are very strong nations so dont compare any ohter nation with the three mega powers

This is 2009 thread,we usually discuss current events.

I hope you got the message

China copies everything. Some of them are:
1) J-11
2) Russian Jet Engines
3) Russian satellite Launch Vehicles
4) All Chinese gadgets & Vehicles are copied from western models
5) Most of all Chinese govt. is copied frm Soviet Union:rofl::rofl:

DON'T be agitated "TRUTH" hurts!!:p:P

I'm sure India is a super innovative country where no one starves, there's alot of patents and scientific papers being published, and academic fraud isn't highest rate in the world.

.
True that "INDIA keep it up".

But you missed miserably the fact that 60+ years ago, India was much richer and stronger than China in many areas such as literacy, GDP, etc.

That's not right my friend! Before 60 years India had one of the lowest income per capita due to exploitation and colonisation.

Yeah it's true that India and China produced more than 50% of world's GDP before 1700s.

Ignore the trolls bro. I agree Indian products still aren't of very high quality. But weren't chinese products equally as pathetic 10-15 years ago? And India IS approximately that many years behind china. and I assure you India IS catching up.

Please refrain from saying that China produces quality products,   all the Indian members here will agree with me,Pakistanis also know about the same, but wouldn't come up with it :D

Yes I am ignoring the trolls. There's no need to educate them. I think India is 30 years behind overall, 20 years behind on its better, 40 years behind on the worst parts. The problem with India is still the same as before. Too much talk, no action, can't keep experts in the country, no one is interested in science and engineering for the sake of science and engineering and doing research, instead everyone wants an MBA and "manage the worker drones" instead of create their own technology.

Leaders in China are science and engineering graduates: Wen Jiabao has a MS in Geology, Hu Jintao has a BS in Hydrology Engineering, the CEO of Sinopec has a PhD in Chemical Engineering, the current CEO of SMIC has a PhD in Materials Science and the former CEO had a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Even low IQ corruption king Jiang Zemin has a BS in Electrical Engineering. You don't get MBA suits that don't know anything managing experts (like in the US). The US can afford it because of their 50 year head start and ability to print money. India cannot.
