SYLHET: The Border Security Force of India at a flag meeting with BDR on Saturday agreed for fresh survey of the Goianghat border where India encroached 35 acres since independence.
The Indian occupation of the land raised tension between BDR and BSF on June 26 when the farmers went to reclaim the land at Aamswapna village in east Jaflong union.
Officials said BSF had occupied 35 acres near border pillar No 1277 since independence. BDR had been trying in vain to recover the land through negotiation. Last week the farmers who owned the land went to reoccupy the land and started tilling beyond the area. BSF resisted heightening tension in the area.
BSF 121 battalion commander at the flag meeting at Tamabil border on Saturday agreed that the dispute be settled through survey of the area by the Sylhet district survey officials at the earliest. BDR 21 battalion commander Lat Col Zahirul Alam led the home team at the flag meeting.

Perhaps, the Artha Shastra guides Indian psychology to act irrationally and bully its small neighbour. These Indians are the true pupils of that outdated Shastra. While Chandragupta Mauriya gained from it, the present day India cannot gain anything by strictly adhereing to these Kautilla teachings.

Tin Bigha corridor should have been permanently leased to BD long time ago. But, the small hearted Indians cannot possibly come into terms with their philosophy of Akhand Bharat. How they can again give away a tiny chunk of their motherland when enough (Bangladesh + Pakistan) has already been given away. Oh hoh ho--------their Bharat Mai will not forgive them. But, by Mujib-Indira treaty, Tin Bigha belongs to BD.

For all reason no country should begin the aggression. Both worked hard in the 1971 and something no important things should not break all this hard work. Better would be discuss all issues.

BD friend, there are lot of issues pending on border site. British marked the border in wrong way at some places and if solved properly, we can enjoy happy century.

The above news shows how the land-grabber India has taken away our land when, during the 1971 War of Independence, our EPR/BDR troops were quite busy defending the country from the attacks by the central Pakistani troops.

It is a happy thing to note that even after the foreign-orchestred (is the spelling correct?) Pilkhana mutiny, BDR is not neglecting its duty to defend the border and to recover many chunks of lands already grabbed by the land-robber India.

Mate, have the spine to call names if you believe in your theory. And if you want it to be credible please give some links where we can read it and debate it. Quit spilling your problem with simple excuse's.

Maybe Indian media should have wrote "Land robber Bangladesh trying to grab indian territory by making false claims". Its what side of media you want to believe in. Such disputes can be solved by proper channel's and will take its own sweet time. I'm not claiming either side is right. But land disputes are not a one month exercise.

Indian had proven to grabbing neighbors land, committed atrocities against neighbors, stealing from neighbors and outright denying treaty obligation. Indians do NOT have the credibility to begin with.

I dont think anyone is or should look for credibility certificate from indians; specially when indians are behind Peelkhana massacre.

Don't you know Bangladeshis have all the right in the world to curse India ...abuse India and shout anti India slogans.... because..... Bangladesh is being run by a bunch of morons.....and ......because....... India bothered to create a Bangladesh in first place...for whatever reasons....because.......there are some morons who call them Nationalist Bangladeshis...and in Bangladesh anyone not shouting anti India slogans is a anti national...because shouting anti India slogans is the only way to win votes of a Muslim majority.....because....shouting anti India slogans is a national pass time......when they are not doing anything ....they want to shout Hindustan Murdabad.....

The usual rant. If you want to debate be specific.

None is provided. Believe what you want to. And if you are so sure about our involvement in the carnage, why dont you people stand up and say so. Quit hiding behind words and accuse others for your misfortune. Take action and let your views be counted.

Hasina couldn't afford to have another border fiasco this time. The last one got her unelected.I hope she is more intelligent now.
BTW that fight also occurred near the villages mentioned,no?

We need our own fence. We need it now.
I very much hope your statement does not mean that SH can easily give away the disputed BD territories including South Talpatti to India without allowing BDR to have another border fiasco, and then expect to get re-elected.

It will then be a dangerous precedent, because BNP is there to compete against AL to give away some more land to India to remain popular both with BD population and with India, too. In this situation what is the use of wasting money to put fence when the fence itself will eat up the grass.

Last time after Roumary, AL govt had transferred Gen Fazlur Rahman from DG of BDR to some other post in the army. But three months later, the very very patriotic and anti-Indian BNP govt just sacked this hero of Bangladesh after it was elected. It seems both the political Parties are competing with each other to catch the eyes of India.

BNP is worse than BAL - no!! BAL is worse than BNP- no its the other way round

= Oh!! I am so confused here. Let me think this over again.

Heard Gen Fazlur Rahman talking in various media after BDR "mutiny".I didn't know he was sacked:tsk:.A man of his stature should have been the Chief of Army staffs.

Sacked by BNP - our one and only Nationalist Party.

I have requested our honored member 'eastwatch' to do a new thread on this Roumari encounter- in honour of all of those who fought and fell in that encounter - it doesn't matter who we fought Pakistanis or Indians or even Burmese.

I feel it should come up any time and all those who have tid bits of any details, on that are requested to share the info with all of us - so that we as a nation may know those braves of our land. And in this process it is equally and just as important are those of the village folks of the area and the vicinity who should also be remembered and covered in this stretch, who fought alongside our valiant forces.

I also do hope Gen Fazlur Rahman will also join us to share his memories of that time.

Thank you

Thanks Eastwatch for that article.I think we should discuss about the adversely possessed lands issues in another thread.

When Gen. Fazlur Rahman was asked to vacate and retreat from Padua, he got very angry with SH, the then PM in 2001. He refused to do so. Rather, he asked her to permit BDR to retake by force all the lands occupied by India.

He told that he does not need army support, only 67,000 BDR troops under him are enough to fight those million vegie troops and get back the occupied lands. He told that all the BDR troops are ready to fight and die in a moment's notice. He asked how many vegie troops are ready to die like that. War is all about sacrificing lives, and the Sikh and Gokha troops of India are no match against BDR.

Gen. Fazlur Rahman was transfered and finally dismissed by the political unpatriotic corrupts, whose only aim is to keep good relationship with India at any cost. We need another Ziaur Rahman at the helm of State. Yes, this is why he was killed.

BDR troops, even after Pilkhana tragedy, fight mercilessly and without fear. Army officers who command them are even more determined. BDR troops are very dangerous groups of fighters. But, our political leadership is weak. So, instead of giving a fight, BDR has to accept the political negotiations to get our land back from the grasp of unholy India.
