It's not about the OP troll. It's about the white boy who wrote the original article. The Western media right since 2010 CWG games seems to have been trying to degrade India at a war footing. Our media of course joins them and sometimes leads them in this endeavour in their never dying hunger for TRP's. PArt of the reason why India's eocnomy went down is probably because this constant bad press.

Therefore I can't help but wonder , if every Western person find India so intolerable and every white woman finds India so unsafe how come their numbers keep on increasing each year ? How come Hollywood movies based in India or on Indian characters are increasingly becoming popular and they all go on to become big hits.

Something tells me that the Indian and International media has deliberately been trying to focus only on the negative in India for the past 3 or so years and the India haters seem to be far more vocal and visible than the others. For what reason ? Anybody's guess.
Probably the criticism during the CWG games in 2010 made the Indian and world media discover that bad news about India sells much more than good news.

It is simple, they want entry into India for their multinationals and India has locked them out mostly. Buying land in India in the scale it happens elsewhere in the world is impossible. They work on the fault lines of India to have a leverage on Indian politics. Much of it is explained in the book "Breaking India." Indians have been fools to be so open and let every dangerous idea come into the country in the faulty belief that being the garbage dump of the world is being progressive.

agree with most of your assesments, although some of them were overblown(like taking 30 minutes to find train number when a simple google search or an enquiry on indianrail.gov.in will give you the number in seconds )

but your point that indians dont want change is rather arrogant and uninformed for someone who visited this country only for a few days, same way i could have said that sri lankans resisted change(you guys were in civil war for such a long long time!).

Indians do want change although we are trying to grapple with several solutions. There's hodge podge right now.

EDIT: Now i come to know that the OP is not the author. He's just a copy-paste who has not even posted the link.

That's not true

I recently saw some pictures of heartland of Chennai taken by a Tamil friend of mine in Sri Lanka. Sorry to say, even the most dirtiest part of Sri Lanka is more cleaner than that. I believe this is result of lack of sense of responsibility of citizens there. Even a person from Tamil Nadu I know here drops littler like a motherfu*** everywhere and he moved to UK when he was just 12 years old.

No dude. Yes, there are two rivers in Chennai, and they are the worsest part in Chennai. But some areas have improved to a great extent. Moreover, highways in TN are some of the best. Try travelling in that.
The rivers in Chennai are highly polluted with sewage, open defacation and extreme stink..! Another problem is cattles on the road..!

It is the govt. When I first came to Bangalore, I used to love it because there was no garbage anywhere. How did that change since that time? There used to be this Garbage rinks everywhere where people could dump their refuse and it used to be collected daily. Sure there was some overflowing and spillage issues, but then some bozo decided that it should be taken off. They came up with the idea of door to door garbage collection but then they collect it from the homes and go and dump it on some street corner. The dump truck comes just once a day or so and the plastics and papers from the dump fly everywhere and get littered by all the stray dogs and animals around.

To top it up, I heard all the land fill areas were grabbed by greedy politicians, Deve Gowda's and SM Krishna's families, and now there are no landfills anywhere. Not everything can be recycled and there are protests from any village/town in the vicinity of which the govt tries to set up garbage management units.

When the whole city anyway looks like one up garbage heap what does it matter who throws stuff anywhere?

Yes.! Not sure about Bangalore..! Am in Chennai, and there is a bin just outside my home, and a vacant plot nearby to my apartments.!
These people instead of walking 20 steps to throw the garbage in the bin, throw the garbage into the vacant plot from terrace.! Who will you blame now? We dont respect traffic laws, especially 2 wheelers.! If we get caught, its we who pay bribe to police to escape.! its time we stop blaming govt for all our ills, and correct ourselves..!

I am posting from Amritsar. people throw garbagre around but infrastructure is not bad. highways are as good as in Canada and USA. busses are better looking now a days. low floor and ac. if we can somehow manage to dispose garbage in more efficient way I don't think we are that much lagging behind the rest.

First of all the legal system in India is almost defunct. If I have to appear to the court to make a fine payment 6 months after the deed, then it is an issue. Some of these issues can drag for years and I say common sense says giving the cop 200 bucks is better than battling it out in the court for 2 years.

Next as to why Indians litter is again to do with lack of governance and more importantly lack of pride. They have been told by our marxist govt and media since birth that they are the scum of the world and it is the foreigners who did a favor to them by killing them, raping them, and pillaging them. No effort has been spared to make the Indian ashamed of being an Indian. History in India is just a matter of dates, so what meaning has any place or any monument. Everything is open to be defaced and every place is good enough to be littered on. After all what is sacred and what is so good about India.

One more thing I actually love the cattle on the roads.

in Canada average home have 55 inch lcd..here we have 32 - 42 inch. in Canada rich have mercedez benz here too. to be honest we have everything in Amritsar itself what before used to be luxury items. so now we can no more tell locals that in Canada we have this and that and feel better as everyone have same things here too. except garbage and poor driving sense I consider living here is better than canada

I c

Now, have at it, call me a cultural imperialist, a spoiled child of the West and all that. But remember, I’ve been there. I’ve done it. And I’ve seen 50 other countries on this planet and none, not even Ethiopia, have as long and gargantuan a laundry list of problems as India does. And the bottom line is, I don’t think India really cares. Too complacent and too conservative.

Nothing offensive. A lot of indians have the same complaints.

@hinduguy

so a copy past hit job pretty much. Though what he said is true.

How many times are we going to post this article:lol:

India is dirty, no doubt! But it has got nothing to do with culture, religion, society blah blah blah. Its just a bad mix of poverty and corruption.

Once a British colleague of mine asked me why do Indians use their hand to wipe their bottom. I asked him if he had only 5 bucks in his pocket, would he buy food with it or toilet paper? People just have other priorities right now. Feeding the family, providing a roof, getting the kids decent enough education is the priority for majority of the Indians right now, waste management, and being green and eco friendly, not so much!

The solution to every problem India has is economic prosperity. India needs a booming economy, a sustained 8-10% growth for atleast 2-3 decades to pull its population out of the mess, like China did. There is no other way.

That was the wrong answer. Even rich Indians wash their bottoms rather than only paper wipe it. It is extremely unhygienic to just paper wipe their bottoms. Would you even sit on a table to eat food where say some muck on it has just been paper wiped? There is hell lot of trace feces on their bottoms which no amount of perfuming can clean. Just imagine how much of trace feces they have consumed just by licking each other up.

Oh before others jump into talk about toilets and stuff in India, they should know most vaccines and steroids are made of horse urine. Not only that the latest research has been on fecal bacteria in treating recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. The clinical study literally implanted donor stool into the study subjects and the result was 100% cure.

not many use toilet rolls not because they don't have money but people think wiped bottom is not clean bottom n it still is dirty..lol..but toilet rolls are not expensive and can be seen in stores .. mostly women use them for cleaning after taking a pee

Please, don't need a lecture on anal hygiene . Using toilet paper isn't the only alternative. Most middle to high income Indian households would least have a bidet in place.

Phir bhi its alteast what 50 bucks a roll right? Me and you might be able to afford it, but not every Indian.

Even with the bidet, people still use their hands and then wash their hands with soap. Flushing down mountains of toilet paper in the sewer system is extremely hazardous not to say not environmentally friendly. Even the amount of water used in Western toilets is a shame. Very soon people will be drinking recycled toilet water because all our potable water has been flushed down the toilet.

Thats over simplifying things.. Wealth does not solve everything.. India has enough wealth but very little civic sense.. I'm not gonna look far.. But take Sri Lanka and Bhutan as an example.. Culture wise a lot of similarities and maybe a lot less wealthy than India.. But far ahead in terms of sanitation, Civic sense and overall order

Lanka for an example have a tradition of town planning, Waste management and sanitation that goes back thousands of years.. It's the law of the country that no building permit will be approved without proper sanitation/ Toilets etc

Yes one cannot compare the island to some of the more developed countries but in general society frown upon littering, And would think twice about dumping their garbage all over.. (Heavy fines by authorities do help the cause)

Refer to my post #52. Next thing it is true the British learnt town planning from Indian cities which were thousands of years old.
