India Trip Report

Hmm... if this was the popular opinion of tourists visiting India , then I wonder why their numbers keep increasing eveyr year.

In fact , why is there now a trend to make Hollywood movies based in India ?

.
Well India needs to improve the civic sense of people, no doubt about that.

And yes, cleanliness has to improve in a big way. The governments (and people) have abdicated responsibility on this front.

Hopefully it will change soon.

Haters will hate. We don't have to explain ourselves to some dimwit plagiarizing troll. There are problems, and there are people trying in earnest to solve them.

India is a vast country of extremes.. It seems that there is no room for moderation there.. I have traveled extensively all over India.. All i can say is it's a paradox.. Utter filth lying next to super luxury and shocking abject poverty right next to unimaginable wealth, You also see some of the worlds most beautiful places and hell on earth.. Thats the core of India and it will not change, If it does India will loose itself

It's not about the OP troll. It's about the white boy who wrote the original article. The Western media right since 2010 CWG games seems to have been trying to degrade India at a war footing. Our media of course joins them and sometimes leads them in this endeavour in their never dying hunger for TRP's. PArt of the reason why India's eocnomy went down is probably because this constant bad press.

Therefore I can't help but wonder , if every Western person find India so intolerable and every white woman finds India so unsafe how come their numbers keep on increasing each year ? How come Hollywood movies based in India or on Indian characters are increasingly becoming popular and they all go on to become big hits.

Something tells me that the Indian and International media has deliberately been trying to focus only on the negative in India for the past 3 or so years and the India haters seem to be far more vocal and visible than the others. For what reason ? Anybody's guess.
Probably the criticism during the CWG games in 2010 made the Indian and world media discover that bad news about India sells much more than good news.

Not really. It is just a matter of poor governance. It can change.

There are some smaller cities like Chandigarh which are quite clean. Many of Gujarat cities are now much cleaner.

It will change and trust me it will change in our lifetime.
India is not unique in this.. another country brazil has same issue of inequality , poverty, slums etc.
The new generation India is much more demanding and they are bringing change.

I have been to Brazil etc.. Mate.. but nowhere do you see the contradictions so severe as in India.. India is not a poor country buy many means.. It is actually very rich in both wealth and culture, But seems to be trapped in it's own methodology.. Society does not seem to care whats happening right out side their door as long as the house is kept intact.. Perhaps because of Hinduism and it's customs

This is another misconception.

There are Christians in Australia and there are Christians in Sierra Leone.

Which one is the "Christian custom"?

Poverty and colonialism have had a debilitating impact on India for a long time. Many social and governance issues will get resolved with a time lag compared to economic issues.

It has nothing to do with religion at all.

Probably.. But you need to accept that some aspects like the caste system is a major impediment for people to get out of the mind set of irresponsibility.. I have experienced first hand in India how even my friends who have gown up in western culture like Australia seem to think it's not his duty pick up garbage and it's ok to just throws things on the road.. Even been bought up in a third world country like Sri Lanka i was truly shocked to say the least

there seem to be this notion that certain things are beneath the status of certain groups

I am not sure it has anything to do with the caste system.

People are a creature of habit and do what works in their environment.

New generation of school kids for example are quite conscious of their social duties. At least a large number of them. Most Indians in the West follow all the rules (no litter, stopping at a four way cross road even at 2:00 AM when no one is looking, letting others overtake them etc.) because it is what they see around them.

In India many of the same people behave differently.
