India to use Russian avionics for future fighter: Official

- Why are we putting so much money for if our contribution will be close to nil as far as technology goes? Russia is developing technology on our cost. I am not against the program, but the hype created around it that we are actually developing some technology that in reality is not true.

Thats not 1st time. IAF also funded them for MKI & other projects which were already dead due to fall of soviets.

- No knowledge transfer only tech transfer that wont enable our Institutions like HAL etc to develop a 5th gen plane. There is a limit to what you can absorb by being just a user.

Yes very little knowledge, but it will give high level of TOT which we can not find by any other means. We can upgrade them by our own/other nation help without permission of Russia & if possible than can make own fighter based on it instead of copying.

-what is the point of funding Russian next gen tech programs and later buying products based on those programs. Its very likely that the technologies that we are funding will land into the hands of PLAAF.
- When it comes to our own programs, we are not so generous, especially the IAF.

Yes you are right, but face reality. Just see LCA, it is good but unable to satisfy IAF. We can spent billions $ for so called our own fighter but always having a risk of failure. While FGFA comsuming our money but certanily will give sweet at last.

Yep and we did not learn from the past.

Upgrade them ? We run to russia for every upgrade. I hope you know Russia is upgrading SU30 MKIs. TOT only helps to maintain and develop existing tech. Very little one can learn with TOT that will allow future tech development.

LCA is far better than what IAF projects it to be. Are you scared of failures? Isro fails in many projects, as per your logic they should have left rocket business a long time ago.

just in case we will able to do better.;)

Failure in ISRO can be tolerable but in military :nono::nono:

We can do better if we invest in our own R&D industries. As far as failure is concerned, its obvious that when you are building products for the first time, they wont be on par with western tech. But with further iterations, one can reach current tech level. There are many cases where the indigenous products passe all the user tests and still never get induction orders like Nishant UAV.

Maybe China shall buy squadrons of T50, I don't think Russian will deny to sell if we offer a good price.

The truth is Russian is only interested in Indian's money. All the R&D process and parts manufacturing is done by Russia, and let India assemble it like MKI. The more you buy, the more you setback.

. .
I have to say Indian government can't help fundin Russia this one, don't have other choice in the foe.

Other points: if you guys don't trust Russian tech, why you fund the project in the first beginning? India government is really stupid dealing with Russia.

.
If Russia delivery willing to transfer the know how, why IAF go for F35A instead? The most important part of fighter technology is how to produce crystal blade, I don't believe Frnce will teach you that in Rafale deal. Cause French is even more clever than Russian.

India will for sure not get the crystal blade tech. This kind of tech is not for sale by anyone. This kind of tech is equivalent to nuclear refinery tech. No one will transfer it to you, you will need to learn it yourself.

But France will surely provide you the blade and India can assemble the engine itself in India. French will teach India the technology of how to assemble an engine.

For pak-fa yes, so far it is all Russian. The Fg-fa is another story, the Indians will contribute, in fact the Indians have Stated that they have up to 45 improvements before the Fg-fa can meet Indian Air Force standards.

The timeline should tell you something, if the Fg-fa would just be a pak-fa then Sukhoi would just take the pak-fa name and slap it onto the Fg-fa, instead the Fg-fa is still in the design stage and years away from the first prototype.

.
Thats obvious not like India has the ability to design and produce 5th gen avionics for fighters.

.
Russia should thank India or no one will bankroll your 5th gen fighter programme.

.
India just ask for enough spares supplied and deliver on time, that's not much.
