So is India launching the moon rover probe next year or in 2022 Anthe article says?
Since the article mentions two different dates .

Our 2nd lunar mission was supposed to be a JV with Russians but it seems they are not keen to participate due to tech constraint so we are gonna do this alone

Good initiative, better for India to sometimes do things by itself when it can than relying on others. :) though it might take more time than the original time table of 2016-2017. But it's still worth it even if it slips to 2018-2020. At the end of the day it will be worth it for India. :cheers:

We should think of a joint program with Pak to go to Moon. At least they'd get a chance to venture into vaccum.

Actually the mission is planned for 2017 & we are hopeful of getting it right the 1st time

One of many problems associated with using helium-3 to create energy via nuclear fusion is that, at least on the Earth, helium-3 is very, very rare indeed. Helium-3 is produced as a by-product of the maintenance of nuclear weapons, which could net a supply of around 15Kg a year. Helium-3 is, however, emitted by the Sun within its solar winds. Our atmosphere prevents any of this helium-3 arriving on the Earth. However, as it does not have an atmosphere, there is nothing to stop helium-3 arriving on the surface of the Moon and being absorbed by the lunar soil. As a result, it has been estimated that there are around 1,100,000 metric tonnes of helium-3 on the surface of the Moon down to a depth of a few metres. This helium-3 could potentially be extracted by heating the lunar dust to around 600 degrees C, before bringing it back to the Earth to fuel a new generation of nuclear fusion power plants.

As reported in an Artemis Project paper, about 25 tonnes of helium-3 -- or a fully-loaded Space Shuttle cargo bay's worth -- could power the United States for a year. This means that helium-3 has a potential economic value in the order of $3bn a tonne -- making it the only thing remotely economically viable to consider mining from the Moon given current and likely-near-future space travel technologies and capabilities.

Every 3rd day I see an anti-Russia article with twisted facts, but hey US & EU listen, Russia is all weather partner of India, western media you fail....
What Russia has given India in terms of weapons (including nuclear tech), advance space and missile technology, support at UN Security Council by veto power. No other nation will give ever give to us. We Indian ain't no ungrateful, its not in our blood.

Indeed space is what Sea was in earlier centuries which ever country fails to releaize its potential will regreat it highly
Sadly most will.....
It took us decades to get the base up to be able to put simple satellites in orbit. The "Muslim" world will miss another century of advancement, as they have entered a new phase of self cannibalization.
The future is only for six/seven countries/blocks US+Japan/Europe/India/China/Russia. We have to avoid war at all costs. Thats why modi is bearing all the humiliation from EU+USA+China...
