India to buy 5 naval warships from Russia

. .
We are neutral but we do cooperate with west along with Russia at the same time

To my knowledge, a complete replacement of Ukrainian engines begins in 2017. That is, the program of building new ships previously used ukrainian engines, will be delayed for 2-3 years. What will be partially offset by an increase in the number of small ships.

Was there any plan earlier to develop local engine before Ukraine conflict?
I would think Russia already has blue print of what Ukraine produce?

The article I posted said it might be a NPO Saturn made engine based on the earlier M90FR collaboration with Zorya.

There is no plans to transfer any of this uncompleted class to foreign customers right? Just a delay in the induction?

Yes, many employees from Nikolayev moved to Russia in recent years (there is no doubt that all the drawings as well). Ukrainian engine replacement program launched years ago.
As far as I know, there are plans to sell 3 x 11356 frigates, about 22350 - I can not say anything.

Doesn't look like they are "warships" per se but fleet support ships (FSS)- which are naturally equally as important as a combat vessel.

@Penguin Any idea which Russian origin FSS this will be? I'm a little dissappointed it has gone to Russia, I was hoping for the Brave class from DCNS for the IN.

.
More Barak 8 and MF STAR and other technologies from Israel I guess.
India is massively upgrading it's fleet

I think JV Barak 8 and MFSTAR are the only item from Israel .Rest of the technologies are already developed in here.

You mixed things, no one said FSS is russian. They are taking about Talwar.
FSS tender is our two years back and HSL have a partnership with Hyundai and L&T - Navada for the same.
Now since Navy has nominated HSL ,it will probably aL JV

Indian MoD Approves $6 Billion Russian S-400 Missile Defense Systems Purchase

Russian S-400 Long Range Air Defense Missile System

The Indian Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has cleared the purchase of Russian S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems for an approximate $6 billion (INR 40,000 crore).
The DAC chaired by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday cleared to buy five S-400 systems along with other buys that include six regiments of Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers for an approximate $2.1 billion (INR 14,000 crore), 571 light bullet-proof vehicles for $46 million (INR 310 crores), 120 trawls for $68 million (INR 450 crores), digitization of 24 Pechora Air Defence system for $181 million (INR 1,200 crores) and an electronic warfare system for $64 million (INR 425 crore).
S-400 is an anti-aircraft system and comes with a mobile launcher and a threat detection radar/command center. The deal also includes purchase of about 6,000 missiles from Russia.
Pinaka systems are going replace traditional artillery guns on the border. The DAC gave the Acceptance of Necessity to the Army’s proposal for procuring Pinaka system.
Pinaka can fire within seconds a barrage of unguided rockets with a range of up to 38 km to achieve a saturation bombing effect, or what is called area destruction. This kind of weapon system is lethal for troop and armour concentrations, and is also battle-proven. Tata, Larsen and Toubro and BEML are contracted to provide the system.
The light-bullet-proof vehicles are to be used in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operation for the Army.
The trawls will be used on Russian T-72 and T-90 tanks.
Apart from the clearances, DAC also nominated Hindustan Shipyard to build five fleet support ships that was cleared in July for an approximate $1.3 billion (INR 9000 crores).

. .
Those 40,000 tons fleet support ship?

Too less cost. 9000 Cr for 5 fleet support ships is too less. Moreover its some thing we can do by ourselves.

Ya correct they are officially a Chinese keep

No need for such languages in this thread pls. Kindly edit before someone bans yu.

And we Indians do not reciprocate in language unless provoked.

Are you sure about that? 5 more Talwars haven't been mooted thus far, to date the figure was always for 3 more. Can anyone confirm?
