BHUBANESWAR: India on Sunday test-fired its nuclear capable Agni-II strategic ballistic missile from a military base in Odisha, defence sources said.

The test was conducted from Wheeler's Island in Bhadrak district, around 200 km from here, by army personnel as part of a training exercise, the sources told IANS.

The medium-range surface-to-surface missile with a range of over 2,000 km has already been inducted into the army and is part of the Strategic Forces arsenal for nuclear deterrence.

Not training, but testing samples from a batch of missiles for quality and readiness assurance.

These kind of tests benefit in both ways. The SFCs get to train and polish their skills, simulating a real-time war scenario and the reliability of the system is also verified.

Congratulations! :enjoy:

It's nothing new though, if a test conducted by SFC, then it's mainly to test it's operational readiness. While if the test conducted by DRDO, then it's to evaluate new sub systems.

Of course, but don't you think that both parties would've mutually conducted the test, gaining maximum benefit out of it?
Thats how it happens here in Pakistan. Anyways, waiting eagerly for the photos :)

DRDO officials were only there because, if the testing failed, the SFC officials could kick their arse. :D
