An international student pays hefty fees to attend.. that fee is super important for them because international tuition is also one of the funding sources. Secondly, Indian students are primarily STEM focused, Graduate school admits who get absorbed into research grants as GAs. Research is again another revenue stream for Univs.

All international Saudi students left, were told to do so by the Saudi govt after a diplomatic spat with Canada.

Because of those Saudi students, many Sheesha places popped up near the university campuses because the Saudi students practically spent a their extra time there.

Many leased brand new cars. The presence of Saudi international students brought actual economic benefit to Canada. All of those sheesha and hang out places popped up creating jobs.

ALL of those Saudi international students left Canada, made 0 difference to the Canadian universities.

The only losers were the Sheesha place owners.

The local Canadian STEM undergrads go on to work in their fields and rarely do graduate studies. For most international students graduate studies is an easy, but expensive, pathway to Canadian immigration.
