Well this will help in NAVAL operation , as the range of the cruise missile is immaterial now as it depends upon how far the Sukhois are willing to travel

Modians are worshiping this achievement of BrahMos while the range is paltry 290 KM, what would they do once India test fires 600 KM BrahMos is beyond me.

Sukhoi = Russian
BrahMos = Russian + Indian.

Atleast we are not shameless enough like a certain large country North of India copies Soviet/Russian weapons violates the IP rights of Russian OEMs and puts its own name on it and claims it as its own.
We Indians are happy because we have a weapon system that can sink Destroyer and Frigates and half a dozen of these can even cripple an large Aircraft carrier .

It is also a fact that NO ASIAN COUNTRY CAN MAKE WEAPON SYSTEM AS GOOD AS RUSSIA AT A PARTICULAR PRICE POINT. Nothing wrong in taking help from Russia.

So kudos to Russia India co-operation.

The crucial Seeker, engine & mission software of BrahMos belong (100%) to Russians, while India looks like a baby on this.

The Indian guidance software is embedded in Russian mission software in BrahMos.

But jingoist Modians work completely different in a conflicting pattern.

Why dont you repeat this stuff when pakistan test fires their missiles ?

Considering the fact that the Pakistani Navy's main weapons platforms are subsurface warships, it hardly affects Pakistan. It could be a potent deterrent for carrier battle groups of other blue ocean navies. So it should mainly scare the Americans, but then they are India's allies.

Reduction in size translates to lesser fuel for BrahMos = lesser range.
However the above constraint gets compensated when the launching platform is aerial which helps the missile range + the additional inertia factor.

It can attack military assets like aircraft hangars , weapons depot etc but Pakistan is so near to India that aircraft version is probably not for them . It is for a country whose Navy might do incursions in IOR and has potent Naval force like destroyers , frigates and even a floating casino turned aircraft carrier . 3 dozen of these can put the fear of GOD in anyone.But India might build 100s of these.
