India seals $25bn Russia deal for 127 war planes

--
just forget who posted this ..

"India's dependence on Russia for the bulk of its weapons systems, said defense analyst Nitin Mehta.

"India wants to buy advanced systems like the Rafale, even at a higher cost," he said. "[But] dependence on Russians will remain ... and it would be difficult to find the resources to replace these with advanced systems immediately." "

No Rafale deal immediately, equals no rafale deal. for now, so just forget it.

.
This $25 billion deal for FGFA and $20 billion for Rafale that adds up to $45 billion... as much as India's total defence budget for a year.
Plus cost of upgrades , plus new Su-30s or 35s, plus, plus, plus...Just forget the Rafale deal.

Do you think India will pay full amount in one go? It will spaced for 15 yrs or so.

.
Such a huge defense budget when half of the country lives in slums taking dumps on railway tracks.

.
noice, i wonder what Pakistan response will be?? JF-17 or even J-10B wouldn't stand much a chance against FGFA...so does that leave only J-31??? and I don't think J-31 wouldn't be much of a match either.
pakistan has zaid hamid to defend his nation from evil india.

India is definitely focussing on FGFA and Rafale both. The amounts such earmarked are not released in one go but over the years. Thing is, can India shell out at least $5 billion per annum for such projects, if so then we may have these aircrafts by 2025. Rafale thing started in 2007 and now we hear that its a non starter. But with 100 plus FGFA and equal number of Rafales will make IAF the best air force in Asia.

Do you think India will pay full amount in one go? It will spaced for 15 yrs or so.
IAF capital acquisition budget is about 5 - 6 billion dollars. If the entire amount is spent on FGFA and Rafale where is the provision for other things.

They will increased but paying 45 billion dollars for a increasing Indian economy for a period of 20 yrs is no big deal.

Actually there is a plan to operate some 5th gen squad before the end of 2018 or 2020.

early Indian Airforce asked 50 T 50 directly from Russia, now they increased it at 144 jets, during the delivery period HAL and IAF team jointly develop the FGFA which is supposedly take first flight by 2025

The issue is that 20 years is a long horizon and the cost could escalate many times. I am not against the deals but sometimes i do get a feeling that the only advantage India has had with Rafale deal so far is to deprive Pakistan of any supplies from the french.

Indian Cheer leader lol

The jet is already designed as in advanced testing stage. VVS is already conducting its testing. The FGFA won't be very different from PAKFA since we have now ruled out the dual seater option to speed up production and increase commonality.

If Dassault continues to procrastinate the signing of the terms and conditions, they might lose it to the modernized MKIs which will still be cheaper than Rafales.
