India Scraps Domestic Jet Engine Plan

.
Well.. it would make sense in a security state like Pakistan.. but for a thriving democracy like India where transparency and accountablity is now the top issue.. I find it unlikely

The engine is only expected to power drones, locomotives and as 3rd or additional engine for naval vessels.

IAF requirement was too high to achieve.

GE with proven quality and reliability with the best technology is better for the LCA.

GE414 or later advanced version will power AMCA too.

No idiot....like for stealth UCAV.....hollywood ke maare bacche...:D

Yeah, you believe that BS . This 'idiot' will keep his hopes a little more grounded . By the way i was being sarcastic . And mind your language before i start with mine .

It'll be more like Trishul project, which was eventually scrapped and we went for superior Akash missile. Hopefully DRDO can achieve similar feat once again.

this is a disappointing news, a very disappointing indeed. india has accepted defeat against an engine. we lost it. 20 yrs of hardwork but we couldnt come up with an engine. why the hell they dont give it another try. start from all over again, a new engine. by 2020 india will have amc, tejas mk1, mk 2 and ucav, rta 70 and other stuff and we will import 1000 engines by 2030 to fly all those planes. what a waste of time and money. pathetic drdo this time. we cant even build a helicopter engine. we suck man. we r loosers period.

LOL ..

They have made an engine but not good enough for the fighter but will be useful for other uses as already pointed.

Engine making mastering is a complex thing. Just putting money or men are sometimes not good enough.

But we will gain from what we learned during the development phase.

.
Quite a good decision, actually. The LCA project and kaveri project should have been separate from the beginning anyway. Either use a proven engine for a new fighter design, or try a new engin on a proven fighter design. The LCA would have come much earlier had we not been hooked to the kavery development in parallel.

The kaveri can be continously refined until it is ready to power the AMCA and Aura. Meanwhile if LCA mk2 can fly with the GE-414 EPE, its flight characterestics would be second to none in its category.

That's why you Indians should only brag after achieving something. Better luck next time.
That is never gonna happen.....don't you see, some Indians are actually happy about this and supporting import of 'better engines'

Atleast we made something but wasn't good enough to meet the requirement. We don't compromise when threshold requirement is not meant......that's how research in any area progresses but what do you know about research....:smokin:
