India Russia to work together to provide N-plants to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka

What is the fuss about India joining Russia in this..We should concentrate on our infrastructural development. >50,000 MW more is needed ..

.
both TAPS-3, and -4 (Tarapore Atomic Power Station) are recent additions and are not available for export, the designs of these reactors are not only for power generation if you understand what i mean, hence not available, (only 200MW - 250MW are under consideration).

Here is a link for more recent info on indias work in this field:

Only in indian wet dreams that Russia would even join hands with India to counter China because Russian collaboration is much more close and strategic with China than India. True China may not be their largest arms customer but the trade runs significantly higher and so do political goals..more importantly both are veto yielding UNSC members.

Russia want to enter the Bangladesh and Srilanka, India will be nearest point to connect russia to these two countries.. In return India will get some chunk of business and expertise

Russia will get access to these country, Russia will get cheap labor, and a market.. Its win win situation.....

for those who believe Its threat to china: Chinies premier recently said that there is enough Market opportunity for both India and china to grow peacefully.. I don know why some of PDF member take it personally

.
If i remember it correctly... China was not eager for india getting NSG approval...

Do i need to mention that Russia was key along with drance and US ?

and we are talking on Civil Nuclear Trade...why to talk of iindia-china-love affairs' ?

No, this is not possible, Bangladesh and Russian agreements are bilateral, any change will require a tripartite multilateral agreement be negotiated. Even putting aside the IAEA supplier rules, this still would not be possible as we want 1100MW reactors (2x550MW) from a single supplier source, and india can only offer 200-250MW units.

India will be nearest point to connect russia to these two countries.

What are you trying to say, we can't negotiate with Russia without going through india? We can do our own deals thanks.

Russia knows where Bangladesh is, and we also knows where Russia, France or China are. If not Russia many other countries are willing to provide us nuclear power plants. We do not have to go via India.

We will be installing 2X1000 MW thrid generation nuclear reactor. The minimum capacity of 3rd generation reactors are 1000 MW.

Thats going to be high-stake strategic move and who-ever is able to sell such tech to these two countries, they would align with them.

I doubt if Srilanka would opt for Indian side over China but Bangladesh government has few psychological problems and might opt for India over China.

Bangladesh can't opt for india, they don't supply reactors over 220MW at the moment.

This government dealing with India from business point view. For strategic point of view they gone to China and Russia.Despite Indian pursuation they gone to China for satellite launch,Frigates, tans,APC and for nuclear techonology and fighters they gone to Russia. These are all predictable.

you can go but Russians wont Installation is not only the issue, when we hand over the reactors we need to give training to the scientists and workers in Bangladesh to operate on these reactors. That is must for your and our security. Its a very critical technology, no one would involve without complete measures.
And I bet we can provide you with the best training and cheap cost and with much other advantages from Russia. I wont deny the fact that Russia is the godfather of almost every strategic technology in India and China.

Have you read any of this thread? Bangladesh has already negotiated for the supply of reactors including all support and fuel from russia. How does this involve india? No country buys from mulitple sources.

dont't tell me that.

its all under IAEA. unlike N. Korea, Syria.
IAEA has announced in 2005 or 2004 that it will help Bangladesh to set up nuclear power plants

then in 2005 China was to set up a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh then in 2008 India was to set up a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh under IAEA then again in 2008 France was ready to help Bangladesh in Nuclear co-operation.

and in this news its just another progress report.

and we all are members of IAEA!!!

and since we are quite familiar with the Russian reactors, we can provide assistance.
