Both India and Russia have the funds and talent to go it alone.
If tiny Switzerland can develop a supercomputer, then surely Russia and India can.
Switzerland is a rich country the living standards there and the salary wage is probably the highest going but if you consider India's military budget which is around $45 bn and Russia's which is slightly higher at $58bn both these figures is not equal to what China spends both official and hidden. India is good in software and Russia is quite good in hardware side. Russia offered the Glonass system only to India and in my view I feel they trust us more compared to China when it comes to defence as we will not clone their tech like they did with the su-27.
China is competing with the USA now not India they have lapped us multiple times but our military approach is a asymmetric warfare similar to Pakistan's approach with India, we can not compete in terms of numbers but we can still pack a punch to deter any incursion into our borders.
