I understand your POV. However in certain cases it is difficult to draw a line between what is culture and what is exploitation. In this case for example, we cannot say for sure how many women are here because of free will. It is possible that they don't care about bearing a child in the first place, or if they do, they don't want to be a part of this ritual. There could be various reasons for participating in it - Coercion, emotional blackmail, imposed shame for not being fertile, or indeed free will. Are we trying to pretend that all these are impossible reasons and that women can act 100% of their free will? I cannot bring myself to believe that all is hunky dory and 'sab maje mein hain'. People tolerate lot of stuff for various sakes. Doesn't make it right.

This is not just about women either. Poor children work when they should be studying. Maybe no one has explicitly forced them to work. Doesn't make it right. That is why we had mid day meal scheme to incentivise children to attend school. There is no shame in acknowledging a problem. However those who benefit most from the status quo have little reason to challenge it.

Sure, there might be instances of some women from that group who are not there of their own volition, or all 100% of them might be there of their free will... impossible to say either way.. but more importantly, how is that any of your business ?

I mean you could walk into any super fancy rich people gathering and hypothesize just the same.. Gucci ki ghadi, Louis Vuitton ka purse, Hermes ka shawl, chauffeured in in a fancy *** big league German car but there's sexual exploitation and general unhappy marriage things going on... how is that anyone's business ?

1. As one example, as of 2019 I think, 21 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world are in India. And India is among the three top polluters in the world, the other two being China and USA. What is the quality of life in India ? Is all this required ? Can it not be avoided by doing some simple changes to Indian society ?

I am religious and also rational. I understand what is science and what isn't. From a scientific point of view there is no possibility of enhancing fertility by walking on women's back. Heard of medical doctors advising it?
