so now india wants to fight it out in the high sea!well centuries might have changed but nations thinking hasn't!!!


going back to PRE WORLD WAR 1 days...the master of the high seas were the BRITISH!! then came the new kid on the block the GERMANS.....and everyone knows the juggernauts war that started between the British royal navy & the German fleet.....


so the showdown will happen again this time amongst the Chinese and the Indians.....

the problem is that bangladesh might succumb and accept the indian dominiation so might burma and other countries HOWEVER, Pakistan will be the Achilles heel of the INDIANS

incase of a war with China the Indians would need to knock pakistan out quick and fast...damn the scenerio seems perfect for WW3!!

against Pakistan and China in their forum , their suggestions were to

nuke Pakistan and China one by one! Check it out.

Back to the topic, for Indians to build 100 warship, it may take 100

This data has not been updated I suspect. The last time I counted, there were at least seven nations with more that 100 warships to their credit with ofcourse Uncle Sam topping the list as usual. The funniest part of the whole thing is that many of these countries have a coast line which is a fraction of India's and little or no threat perception to speak of.
Indian Navy has been neglected for decades because of our preoccupation with land based neighbours but also because Naval assets are prohibitively expensive and have a long gestation peroid.
We need a 100 ship Navy and being already more than halfway there, it should take us two to three decades, no more.

Yeah smarty, doesnt that naturally imply that there would be addition to the number of warships reflected in the data base? The figures would be higher today and not lower. The data gives a fair idea to people shooting off the cuff like you.

Just wanted to know why "Bangladesh" has found a mention in this thread. The USA has such a huge navy, did some country "succumb" to them?

India having 100 ships does not mean it will always keep them in offensive positions. It will do that when necessary.

And by the way,

1)when there is a probable threat of being attacked by two neighbors at the same time, I dont see a reason why India should not have a 100 warships. (maybe they should have more?)

2) Before being occupied by the british, India did have good naval capabilities

so "dating back to WW1" is not the right sentence, "dating back to pre colonial times" is the right word. India is trying to take its rightful place that it had before the british came and destroyed its capabilities.(this is my opinion)
