India-Pakistan border near Sialkot

Irony: Both the nations are using the opening lines form the poems by great Poet Iqbal...
Pakistan - Taranah-E-Milli
India- Taranah-E-Hindi

Tarana-e-Milli: Cīn o-ʿArab hamārā, Hindūstāṉ hamārā
Muslim haiṉ ham, wat̤an hai sārā jahāṉ hamārā

Tarana-e-Hindi: Sāre jahāṉ se acchā, Hindositāṉ hamārā
Ham bulbuleṉ haiṉ is kī, yih gulsitāṉ hamārā.....

Quite the bickering brothers I would say....

Brothers ha ha ha my friend Pakistan is much bigger then the bit of land you seen in the photos and no way are we your brothers.

Thats because Allama iqbal had different divergent views much like Jinnah when comparing his early formative years and his later politicized years when he was really thinking about the muslim cause and thus supporting an independent land though the word Pakistan had not been coined till then.
Its really interesting to note the divergent genesis in both the poems... While Taranah-E-Hindi which was written in 1904 glorifies Indian subcontinent and preaches secularism, Taranah-E-Milli which was written in 1910 plays an ode to the Islamic "Ummah" and discourages nationalism based on place of birth rather preaches nationalism based upon religion...

So use see in a gap of 7 years the ideology of the poet changes drastically from Secularism to Nationalism based on Religion.... I wonder what happened during those 7 years which impacted the author that he changed his views...

Just a correction... just by adopting Islamic nationalism someone does not become anti secular. Allama iqbal supported Ataturk and his efforts to secularize and modernize turkey. He was a secularist just like Jinnah. I think we Pakistanis though at times also Indians make the mistake of treating secularism and religion as seperate and exclusive when a secularist can be a devout muslim too.

I am sorry if I gave the idea of him becoming an anti-secular, I am just pondering about what made the author change his views on nationalism ....
You see in the first poem he wanted to incite nationalism in the Indian subcontinent by making people relate with the material beauty of their nation while in the second poem the poet wanted the reader to forgo the nationalist attitude and treat all the Islam followers as their Brothers.... This is where the juxtaposition is clearly visible...

Allama Iqbal is irrelevant his work is a copy of great legends like The great Khattak, outside Lahore no one really cares for what and who Iqbal is.

Who said anything about Punjabis, where is the racism?.

Just tired of those Pakistanis who always Seem to find oneness with the Indians & by that they insult their countrymen who share nothing with Indians.

Pakistan would be a very nice place without such people and the province they hail from.
Same can be said about a select few pathans who love afghanistan( which is an enemy ) more than pakistan. Lets all be pakistanis for once shall we?

No Pukhtoon loves Afghanistan, we never forget their betrayal when they signed the treaty with the British, they sold us like one of their daughters they are famous for selling.

We will never look at Afghans with a hospitable eye, so before you play that card know the ground realities.

rora are you a pathan ?

No am not a Pathan, I am a Pukhtoon.
