India-Pak to freeze Kashmir for 10 years

Good development. We should take the opportunity to demiliterize kashmir so that people of kashmir can taste real democracy.
Till now they have seen the democracy at gun point.
Also, once they start to rule themselves, they will find that it is not good enough to blame India always, and they are not going to be swizerland with their current human resources and leadership.
Kashmiris need to take responsibility of their own fate, like other states of India do.

Never thought Pakistan as such weak country before. They are leaving Kashmir issue? Its strategic failures are clearly manifested today. Seems like it always took wrong decisions.

Seems like ?

I mean why they have supported Kashmir, if they leave today. It shows they were wrong and India was not wrong. Also why PK joined with US in WOT, it was not Pk's war. PK embroiled itself into others problems.

They have not supported Jammu & Kashmir.. They have demanded it.. Just like India has demanded Pakistan administered Kashmir and G&B.. If this news is true, then both sides will cease their demands for next 10 year..Kind of like a hiatus from Kashmir ;)

Pk ' joined ' the WOT not because it wanted to , it was told to. Plan B to the directions it got from US was to be bombed back to the stone ages. Mush had no choice and made the U Turn of dropping his strategic asset , brothers in arms and fellow Muslims.

Should you jog your memory or google you will see that the WOT is Paks war in fact a war created by Pak's active involvement in the events in Af all along - Zia onwards.

As regards J&K, Pak was wrong all along.

It was wrong to have attacked in 47, it was wrong to have wasted time looting & raping Nuns at Baramula when they should have raced to Srinagar, it was wrong not to have reconciled to the accession of J&K to the Indian union, it was wrong to assume that mere infiltration of troops in Aug 65 would lead to a mass uprising in the state & PA could then walk in as liberators, it was wrong to have thought that militancy could pry the state away from the Indian union, it was wrong to have tried to create a claim over Siachen, it was wrong to tried a Kargil.

The list goes on & on.

That's a very interesting take; a couple of things that come to mind as the great game unfolds:
While the circular proxy game the Americans have played and perfected over the years is on offer in South Asia; in India they are dealing with a very different entity. The American bureaucracy has become used to dealing with pushover after pushover and the Indian establishment has shown on numerous occasions that while it may follow, it won't do so quietly and at the expense of its wider geopolitical goals. The difference is in India being a maturing democracy; a government that is answerable to the public can never be relied upon to obey orders blindly. This explains the historic American relationship with dictators of diverse beliefs and ideological leanings.
There's a pretty popular saying now:
"America is too used to being the leader and India is too big to be subservient"

In the end, the US may be able to offer India enough to lead it along a path that heads straight towards a clash with China, but it isn't a sure shot bet; and those are not the kind of odds the Americans like to play with. A military dominated Pakistan is predictable; a democratic India, a slave to the changing whims of the public, isn't.

The above statement actually holds a lot of value. US might still be able to get India to do what it wants. However that will only come when it is able to offer something else in exchange to India that India greatly covets.

Example: US was able to make India remove itself from the IPI, but it was able to do so at a price. That price was India's removal from the nuclear blacklist of the world. So India's (macro) objectives also get fulfilled.

So for each action, they will have to give something greater in return.
Indian bureaucracy is a firm believer in 'there are no permanent friends or enemies, just interests'. That being said, there are pitfalls in being a democracy as well.

Fcuking Congress. They won't last more than 2014. That's a promise.

But the good thing is, Geela-ni will be snuffed by then.

. .
I'd rather prefer Congress exiled for life after a violent overthrow and replaced by a more sturdy and nation-dedicated government.

That will make our enemy more powerful and developed :(

And what exactly do you think the Nehru-Gandhi Dynasty wants? :azn:

.
Was bound to happen.. as such Kashmir offers nothing anymore..
and our economy has had enough of idiocy over a water source that is now rapidly shifting and losing its value.

And you are the only clever person in Pakistan!

Indinas are blocking Pakistani water because for no sane reasons? :hitwall:

Water is lifeline of Pakistan and Kashmir is as much Indian as Afghanistan is American.

Pakistan’s changing position on Kashmir evoked severe criticism from Syed Ali Geelani, the chairman of uncompromising faction of the Hurriyat.
Why the heck can't this bozo be packed off to Pakistan since he loves it so much? He's a drain on the state's exchequer. This idiot has got a million dollar mansion in Srinagar, 24x7 security from the govt of India, free water and electricity, subsidized food, masalchis, cooks, dhobis, and malis to look after his garden - all paid for by the honest tax payers. That sucks to hell and high heaven.

He needs to be thrown across the border, lock stock and barrel.

Remember the monkey trap...he's one of the jokers in that act
