It's mostly GPRS or 3G... although, facebook users alone are more than the total numbers stated by this source. (82 million facebook users, alone).

And I trust, not every internet user in India will already be on facebook.

Another source says, there are between 150-200 million users (which is like 12-18% of the population).

That said, with a literal from of e-initiatives (such as aadhaar, already with 410 million registered), the usage is going to explore in the coming years.

They count every slum with cables running underneath them as "connected". And as you hold a degree on slum stats in India, the numbers should not suprise you anymore.
