Every Institution worth its salt was built by Nehru. Also democracy was reinforced and built by him - he encouraged the opposition. Here is an interview of his in the 1950s. And you can see how clear headed and focussed he is. No rubbish like Akshay Kumar asking Modi - "Aap aam kaise khate hain?"

Gandhi is a more complex figure. However the role he played in bringing the suffering of Indians under British rule on the global stage in unparalleled.

What public perceives is in most of cases different from reality. Foolish people have been made to believe that Nehru and Gandhi are responsible for all the problems we face today by the BJP's propaganda machine. Nehru's only mistake was blunders that he made during the Sino-Indian war. But it was actually him who furthered the nation on the path of industrialization. He created centres of excellence like IITs and AIIMS, ISRO etc. He was a true visionary and statesman unlike anpadh gawar modi and amit shah who have found an appeal amongst people like themselves.

Now coming to the creation of Pakistan, Jinnah had no plans to create a separate nation. He wanted to become the PM of the independent India and Nehru wanted that position for himself. Nehru's clout was growing and he was the favourite for that post as a large population of muslims supported INC rather than muslim league. Muslim league won from places like present day Bihar, UP and Bangladesh and lost in current day Pakistan. This made Jinnah insecure and he demanded a separate country for muslims. British also had interests in Creation of Pakistan as it would serve as a buffer state against Soviet aggression. So this is the whole story behind it.

Nehru had many faults but he did do a lot of things right regarding institutions that were built up and are beneficial to the country still to this day. Don't like any restrictions being put on anything a free press and internet are crucial in democracies. But some here giving us advice from a country where no such freedom exists is kind of funny. It's all relative. Last great orator India had was Vajpayee. Manmohan, Rajiv were rubbish as orators. Also, like Trump - Modi connects with the audience by using cheap language - "Didi o Didi" is a recent example.
