New Delhi, June 2:India on Tuesday flagged its objections to elections being held in Gilgit-Baltistan, which forms a part of Azad Kashmir, and termed the move as an attempt to camouflage the ‘forcible and illegal’ occupation of the region.

“The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, which includes the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, is an integral part of India. The election in Gilgit-Baltistan on June 8, under the so called Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Government Order, is an attempt by Pakistan to camouflage its forcible and illegal occupation of the regions. We are concerned by the continued efforts by Pakistan to deny the people of the region their political rights and the efforts being made to absorb these territories,” Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Vikas Swarup told media here.

“The fact that a federal minister of Pakistan is also a governor of Gilgit-Baltistan speaks for itself. Unfortunately, in recent times, the people of the region have also become victims of sectarian conflict, terrorism and extreme economic hardship due to Pakistan’s occupationary policies,” he added. Pakistan had earlier announced that legislative elections in Gilgit-Baltistan will be held on June 8. The Express Tribune has reported that a jirga in the region has barred women from casting their vote in one of the constituencies in thre region, thereby depriving over 12,000 women of their right.

objections to elections being held in Gilgit-Baltistan, which forms a part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,

Coupled with the extreme level of delusion

So the game of thrones starts!

To all Pakistanis, this is no burning if you know anything about geopolitics!

Pakistan was being handled with kid gloves, I do not remember any of the prev govts taking such a stand on GB!

Welcome move!

Good that India is bringing Kashmir issue to World's attention itself. Keep issuing such statements so that world gets curious as to what people of Kashmir want.

No you are wrong.
This is planned for something.

Such poll celebration in GB is not a new thing .But if they purposefully spiked up this occassion it has some reason. Some obvious vreason.

First thing they would try to do that is to stop attention of the world in that area. They know other nations wont show much interest in Kashmir and GB to antogonize us.

Around one decade ago.Entire west was in front for unwantedly pass comments about Kashmir. Now we cant see anyone.

I think this was delibrate.
But cant understand the intention.

But it is quite interesting.

. Look who's talking. There hasn't been any uprising in Giligit-Baltistan area, of the sorts that happen in Indian occupied Kashmir, don't worry, it's the Indian government bringing the region into limelight, Pakistan stands innocent meanwhile India doesn't.

A paradigm shift in Kashmir policy. Appreciated.

Times change and West knows how to twist arms. They are quiet now. They may not be tomorrow. They conveniently looked other way what Saddam was doing in Iraq during its war with Iran. Afterwards it was a different story. I wouldn't bank on indefinite silence if I was you.
