Look its infact quite logical. Every country looks out for itself and its citizen.

Pakistan want investment, you get it from China.

Vietnam wants help with oil exploration, they get help from India.

Pakistan wants military protection from India, you get it from China.

Vietnam wants military help against China and they get it from India.

India and China gets foothold in each others regions. We get oil, China gets trade.
