India not granted MFN status, says Gilani

Trade with China is already in place and the impact already felt - why do you think Pakistan should repeat that and 'trash' even more industries through unregulated trade with India?

No body mentions the reason of local industries.even the leader of nawaj sharif party was giving reason of kashmir to avoid mfn to india+discussion in parliament about this:rofl:

i think pakistani leadership have become a laughter stock wrt the mfn to india.
india could easily get this if they go to wto but we never approached there.

I think after "Friendly fire" from china-- pakistan has learned her lesson.

We don't need to worry -- loss is there.
That is one heck of a contradictory statement - if FT with China is 'friendly fire', implying Pakistan suffered losses from it, how can it be 'Pakistan's loss' for not engaging in the same kind of 'free trade' with India?

You said yourself that 'Pakistan learned her lesson', correct? :D

So are you saying trade with China has brought you bad???? b/w India gave Pakistan MFN status more then a decade ago....Isn't it too long a time for Pakistan to decide to go for it or not to go for it...what the heck is this flip flop...

Trade with India must be opened up, no doubt, but with proper safeguards and supervision.

U can always put anti dumping duty on export in case you see it is unfavorable to domestic industry. Pakistan has to loose again they will keep importing via dubai

Actually the 'reason of local industries' has been mentioned in a couple of articles posted on this thread, as well as in other threads where the industries have articulated their concerns directly.

Again, read more, think more, talk/write less Mr. Prism.

Not the MFN directly, but the direction of Pakistani foreign policy towards India with the granting of the MFN.

Try and expand your thought process a bit.

sorry sir ji,I couldnt get this.if you look at the india china trade with problems,i even couldnt find the issue of foreign policy there.
Some body rightly said that pakstanis are living in 1980 mode(He was too pakistani:D)

That is what absolutely happened w.r.t china

You do some research regarding china pakistan trade you will have your answers.

Pakistan basically export raw materials.

India and Pakistan are culturally similar with compare to china so better opportunities for your industry to explore a huge market

or keep on importing via dubai-- we keep on making our money

Agreed but why the flip flop. I am confused why the whole cabinet agreed on just tasking the commerce minister! It is a bit confusing as to what was the press release a few days back.

China is a friend we are getting space, civil nuclear tech, military technology, diplomatic support, how is that linked with india.

.
Agno's plan B , when role of Army is established tell them we are not going to repeat the same mistake we did with China. BTW any rectification done by GoP for the ill effects of trade with China?

AM you are too good.

Never mix friendship and business. Bad combination.

Absolutely,

and

It is all to do with GHQ and PLA's strategic and security partnership. India-Pakistan peace will make China more vulnerable to India. China will punish Pakistan if Pakistan becomes friend with India and your Generals know it.

I liked the way China plays her role here.

It is China who dictates the GHQ against any such deal and at the same time do the pleasant talking of welcoming the MFN Pakistani walk the talk, talk the walk offer to India.

I wonder how much Pakistan is obliged to Chinese weapons and security solutions that it can tolerate them doing business with India but can't do the same with India.

We were doing alright just a couple of years ago, and the current UN report states we have less poverty than our neighbors. So once back to normal, with attacks also much reduced.

Why the flip flop? Because Pakistan's present government is a bunch of brainless buff-00ns whose combined IQ does not make it into triple digits.
