With all due respect the old Pakistan was never going to hold together in the long run for 2 reasons:

1. Bangladeshis are much more "moderate" Muslims and our Islam is closer to that of Indonesia/Malaysia rather than that of Arab countries like Pakistan.

2. It was strange country in that there was 1000 miles separating the 2 nearly equal populated territories. No other country in the world has ever had this situation and survived as one entity for long.

Yes, we know that well enough. When Pakistan was formed they were under the delusion that all it takes to hold together a nation is the religion of islam. What really holds a country together is a shared identity or history or culture or language or some such meaningful indicator, NOT a common religion. Why the founders of pak thought that owing allegiance to the same religion could be the basis for secession and creation of a country will be a mystery.

By the way Pakistan is not an arab country, no matter how much they pretend to be and aspire to be. In their version of islam they are trying to emulate the arabs, with tragic consequences. You are right that religion is (and the people are) a lot more progressive in Bangladesh.

Lollz why is every body on a m@sturbation spree!!! The article talks about taking out terror targets. But it didnot mention specifically about any surgical strikes inside pak. Why risking a nuke showdown when things can be done more easily. Funding separatist moments, raising opposition factions, buying off top politicians,destabilizing internally by smuggling drugs and arms, instigating clashes between different religious sects and regions etc. Gone are the days when wars were fought with fighters and tanks. Future wars will be fought using intel agencies, spec ops and last but not the least...economy which is what china is doing against India!

India can not attack Pakistan as it is not a terrorist state yet so it will be difficult and there is still some support for Pakistan in world community and India is trying its best to make "Good India and Bad Pakistan" Image in World community and Pakistan itself helping India for making Indian dream true.So wait for moment when no one will oppose Indian step against Pakistan even China will think to be with Indian side for of course economical dependency

Honestly speaking right now, not interfering in Pakistan better serves our interest. The anti-Americanism in Pakistan is so high and currently whole world is worried about Pakistan and their nukes. Americans are weeding out all the militants from Pakistan. Pakistan is also getting fragile day by day to sustain any militancy against India and economic gap with India is deepening.

We don't need to use our energy or resources, the world community will look after that.

Mate he is right- India has made 0 indications it will concede Siachin. This would be political suicide for ANY PM of India. This simply isn't happening but is being flogged as a foregone conclusion when it simply isn't true.


And calling MMS weak is not too accurate either. You could look at the flip side and call it wisdom, MMS was lauded the world over for showing restraint after 26/11 for not launching military actions against Pakistan, simiarly MMS and much of the Indian polciy makers are sensible enough to see better relations with Pakistan are favorable and win-win for EVERYONE.
