All said and done, the bottom line is Kashmir! Let's get real and not get into semantics and a holier-than-thou attitude. Until and unless this dispute is sorted out, smoking the peace pipe with Pakistan is an impossibility. This problem has festered for far too long thanks to political intrigues and vested interests on both sides.
Pakistan and India need to start getting serious about this long standing issue instead of hedging and wedging for brownie points. But for that you need statesmen on both sides of the divide and not the lame duck politicians we're saddled with. The Pakistan Army like it or not is a major player in this game and they need to be taken on board for arriving at a solution acceptable to all stake holders.
However, I daresay that even if the Kashmir conundrum is solved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders, there would still be those free lance extremist organizations that would continue to indulge in terror activities not only against India but Pakistan too. But then, a coordinated and joint effort could help in curbing such activities.
Cheers!
I beg to defer you on this matter, they will never be at peace with us no matter what we may offer to them. and it is not very hard to think why.
