NEW DELHI: Despite Asia harbouring vast cultural and linguistic diversity, the people of Asia are linked by a unique genetic thread with the common ancestors of the Asian population being traced to India, revealed a pan-Asian study.

Disputing the long-believed theory that the human population went directly to East Asian countries from the African region nearly a hundred thousand years ago, the study says that there was a single point initial entry to Asia from Africa - through South India - not multiple inflows.

The genetic make-up of the population of India is the perfect setting for the study of disease, genetics, pharmaco-genomics and clinical trials of the drugs for major pandemics including flu, HIV and other pandemics for the whole world.

It is the first time the human genetic diversity in Asia has been mapped. The study was conducted by a group of over 90 scientists from the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO)’s pan-Asian SNP Consortium partnering ten Asian countries namely India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. The team reached the conclusions after examining genetic data from 1,928 people representing 73 populations across Asia.

“This study shows that our future is based on mutual cooperation and not conflict. The imminent problems of climate change and pandemics could be solved by such cooperative research,” said Union Minister for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chauhan.

THE INDIAN CONNECTION
Indians are ancestors of Japanese, Chinese

New Delhi: Indians are the ancestors of Chinese and many of those in other East Asian countries.
This is revealed by a study Mapping Human Genetic History in Asia , conducted by ten Asian countries, which said that the human population originally came from Africa nearly a hundred thousand years ago to India from where it went to China and other Asian countries .
The findings also nullify theories that a wave of human population directly went to the East Asian countries.
Majority of these South-East Asian populations have ancestors in south India (where the first wave of human population came from Africa), CSIR director general Samir Brahmachari told reporters here.
The study also assumes significance as it opens up the scope for single-point clinical trial for drugs for major pandemics including flu, which can be applicable to rest of the people in the region , Science and Technology Minister Prithviraj Chauhan said.
This research is also significant for understanding migratory pattern of human history and furthering the research in medicine. It has great potential for collaboration with these countries in finding treatment to many diseases like flu, AIDS and other pandemics, Brahmachari said.
Studied by 90 scientists from the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO), the research on Southeast Asian (SEA) and East Asian (EA) populations of 1,928 unrelated individuals represented 73 populations from 10 countries, including China , India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. AGENCIES

"India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only!"

--Mark Twain

"India was the mother of our race and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages. She was the mother of our philosophy, mother through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics, mother through Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity, mother through village communities of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all."

--Will Durant

I really doubt that Oriental Chinese have anything in common with Indians. I mean if that was true we'd see a few Chinese looking dark skinned people as well?

Earliest recorded Western civilization begins from the Egyptian Civilization. That doesn't mean that the Asian civilization didn't exist at the time. Three is a good chance that there were civilization even during the Ice age.

One theory that extends this thought is the fact that people all over the world, built Pyramids as their first massive structure. The Egyptian and the Mayans never met each other. There was no cultural exchange possible. Yet they both had the bright idea to build Pyramids. How come?

It is obvious there was some common ancestor between them, hence an older civilization - like the mythical Atlantis.

.
Btw, when people say Indian, they mean the area occupied by Pakistan. The recorded history of Balochistan's old civilizations dates back to as much as the Egyptians or even the Mesopotamian civlizations.

It is unlikely that the cultural exchange happened between them and that one transmitted to the other.

Actually, it doesn't matter what race or who is the mother. We all come from the same place...the Vagina.
