----- Jingoism has led us to where we stand today. -----
What do you mean by that? Jingoism or not, India is certainly in a far better position than earlier and we do stand tall in the world stage and the world acknowledges it. As for MGMECH he is responding to that Chinese in his own coin.

Since you yourself has pasted many wiki links as neutral here is wiki for you

"practically speaking, though, since Vietnamese troops remained in Cambodia until 1989 it can be said that the PRC failed to achieve their goal of dissuading Vietnam from involvement in Cambodia."

"Gerald Segal, in his 1985 book Defending China, concluded that China's 1979 war against Vietnam was a complete failure: "China failed to force a Vietnamese withdrawal from [Cambodia], failed to end border clashes, failed to cast doubt on the strength of the Soviet power, failed to dispel the image of China as a paper tiger, and failed to draw the United States into an anti-Soviet coalition." Even from your source, where did it stated vietnam beat China ?

Why only post part of the article, let me heilp you with the rest;

Nevertheless, Bruce Elleman argued that "one of the primary diplomatic goals behind China's attack was to expose Soviet assurances of military support to Vietnam as a fraud. Seen in this light, Beijing's policy was actually a diplomatic success, since Moscow did not actively intervene, thus showing the practical limitations of the Soviet-Vietnamese military pact. ... China achieved a strategic victory by minimizing the future possibility of a two-front war against the USSR and Vietnam." :smitten::pakistan::china:

That was sue to the Damage wrought by the cultural revolution.

Mao's maddness after Stalins death, and subsequent tense ties with the Soviet Union.
Brought about the Cultural revolution. Which by all angles drove china into a slump.

Only after Mao's death and the resulting end of the cultural revolution was the China we see today truly created.

true..gogbot.. Things change situations change....things dont remain the same always....

good if the ever boasting grey boy2 and scChinese could understand this simple thing....

but still war is a war and loss is loss....and Vietnam is something to remember always for the Chinese before they even imagine to harm a country as big and powerful as India...

India also lost in 1962 due to poor preparations and as India was not aware of true Chinese intentions...If India had prepared better at that time they would not have been able to defeat India in 1962 also...

India is also a very changed country today and a mighty power in the world....

India is making rapid strides in the various fields today ranging from nuclear power to space...Instead of boasting the chinese fellow should take into account ground realities as of today...which is that of a powerful and economic powerhouse India.....

You are a loser too! Coming out such a lame excuse.

Stop boasting about how powerful India is! She is still a league lower than China.

As for Vietnam, everyone knows she is ex colony of China. We rule them for a few hundred years. This is longer than the French.:china:

just look at India's rank in Tritium production and that should clear up any misconceptions.

India can be largest supplier of tritium: Kakodkar

India can be the largest supplier of tritium for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar said on Tuesday.

"Although we suffered a shortage of uranium, we are surplus in heavy water production and thus we can be the world supplier in tritium, which is crucial for the world's first fusion experimental reactor (ITER), in which India has an important role," Kakodkar said, on the occasion of 'Heavy Water Day' at Anushakti Nagar in Mumbai.

He also asked the Heavy Water Board, an arm of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) to be prepared for marketing one of its new ventures on Enriched Boron that will be used in Fast Breeder Reactors.

The Heavy Water Board has diversified into a variety of products and some of these are at the Research and Development stage while some are in the production stage including that of enriched Boron, sodium metal, oxygen 18 and several specialised solvents.

yes its a fact u back stabbed India in 1962... that is why India lost...

India lost because of it weak military and Hopelessly under equipped North easter border units.

The Chinese had better equipment
The outnumbered us 60,000 : 12,000

Back stabbing had nothing to do with it.

Nehuru's failure to accept reality and Dis-regard for Military advisers.
Lead to our defeat.
But in way we gained more then we lost in that war.

The Chinese may have won the war. A war that frankly is the most important in the south Asia region. as the consequences of which have shaped South Asia as it is today.

During the aftermath.
China
According to the China's official (communist) military history, the war achieved China's policy objectives of securing borders in the western sector, as China retained de facto control of the Aksai Chin. After the war, India abandoned the Forward Policy, and the de facto borders stabilized along the Line of Actual Control.

However according to James Calvin even though China had won a military victory it may have lost in terms of its international image. Western nations, especially the United States, were already suspicious of Chinese attitudes, motives and actions. These nations saw China's goals as world conquest, and clearly viewed China as the aggressor in the Border War. China's first nuclear weapon test in October 1964, and her support of Pakistan in the 1965 India-Pakistan Border War tended to confirm the American view of communist world objectives, including Chinese influence over Pakistan.

Now the Chinese left the victor but, what did they leave behind.

India

The aftermath of the war saw sweeping changes in the Indian military to prepare it for similar conflicts in the future, and placed pressure on Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was seen as responsible for failing to anticipate the Chinese attack on India. Indians reacted with a surge in patriotism and memorials were erected for many of the Indian troops who died in the war. Arguably, the main lesson India learned from the war was the need to strengthen its own defences and a shift from Nehru's foreign policy with China based on his stated concept of "brotherhood". Because of India's inability to anticipate Chinese aggression, Prime Minister Nehru faced harsh criticism from government officials, for having promoted pacifist relations with China. Indians in general became highly skeptical of China and its military. Many Indians view the war as a betrayal of India's attempts at establishing a long-standing peace with China and started to question Nehru's usage of the term "Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai" (meaning "Indians and Chinese are brothers"). The war also put an end to Nehru's earlier hopes that India and China would form a strong Asian Axis to counteract the increasing influence of the Cold War bloc superpowers. The Indian role in international affairs after the border war was also greatly reduced after the war and India's standing in the non-aligned movement suffered.

The unpreparedness of the army was blamed on Defense Minister Menon, who resigned his government post to allow for someone who might modernize India's military further. India's policy of weaponisation via indigenous sources and self-sufficiency was thus cemented. Sensing a weakened army, Pakistan, a close ally of China, ws emboldened during the Second Kashmir War with India in 1965, however, India had set up the Henderson-Brooks-Bhagat Report to determine what the reason was behind India's unpreparedness in the war, and was prepared for the Pakistani military. The result was inconclusive, since sources were divided on what decides victory. Some sources argued that since India had captured more territory than Pakistan, India had clearly won. However, others argued that India had taken significant losses considering the country's larger military and hence, the outcome of the war was inconclusive. Two years later, in 1967, there was a short border skirmish known as the Chola Incident between Chinese and Indian soldiers. In this incident 8 Chinese soldiers and 4 Indian soldiers were killed.

British journalist Neville Maxwell, controversial writer regarding India, writes that the "hopelessly ill-prepared Indian Army that provoked China on orders emanating from Delhi, and paid the price for its misadventure in men, money and national humiliation". As a result of the war, the Indian government commissioned an investigation, resulting in the classified Henderson-Brooks-Bhagat Report on the causes of the war and the reasons for failure. India's performance in high-altitude combat in 1962 led to an overhaul of the Indian Army in terms of doctrine, training, organization and equipment.

According to James Calvin, an analyst from U.S. Navy India gained many benefits from the 1962 conflict. This war united the country as never before. India got 32,000 square miles of disputed territory even if she felt that NEFA was hers all along. The new Indian republic had avoided international alignments; by asking for during the war, India demonstrated her willingness to accept military aid from several sectors.

And, finally, India recognized the serious weaknesses in her Army.
She would more than double her military manpower in the next two years; and she would work hard to resolve the military's training and logistic problems. India's efforts to improve her military posture significantly enhanced her army's capabilities and preparedness

You see before the War the Indian Military was really a bare minimum force. Military spending was intentionally kept low. There wer no grand ambitions of a strong military.

What China really did was turn India into a military power.

A nation that would have otherwise been very limited in it military.

This is very interesting.
I did not know we played such an important role in the Development of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).

and u cant leave ur borders on the basic of trust...

there are no such so called "politicans and administrators" in new delhi, I can only see some criminals ignoring the basic and fair demand from 1 billion indian.

sorry to be straight forward, but 1 billion indian need better life, better education and health care, better infrastructure, not 100 mig-29 fighters, not a emerging war with China or Pakistan.

10 mein se 9 baiman, phir bhi mera bharat mahan :yahoo:
