India may not import Iranian oil in November

NEW DELHI: India is not planning to buy any crude oil from Iran in November, raising the prospect that Tehran will lose another major customer as US sanctions hit.

Indian Oil Corp. and Bharat Petroleum Corp. haven’t asked for any Iranian cargoes for loading in November, according to officials at the companies. Nayara Energy also doesn’t plan any purchases, said an industry executive. Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. hasn’t made any nominations for that month, but may do so later, a company official said.

Final decisions on purchases aren’t due until early October, so the refiners could still change their minds. The company officials and industry executive asked not to be named citing internal policies.

Maybe, but as India needs the Chahbar port it's highly unlikely that India will bring the buying to 0. Thus the chances of new negotiations being on is more likely. US tried to get India route to Afghanistan through Pakistan so that India can ditch both oil and Chahbar but you guys declined the same. So, now India has its excuses for Uncle Sam, get us the transit or we cannot help it.

India Will now use Euro, £ for trade with Iran along with INR.
