US tried to get India route to Afghanistan through Pakistan so that India can ditch both oil and Chahbar but you guys declined the same. As regards Uncle Sam the question you have to ask is very simple. Why did Trump go back on nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions? The reason is simple. He wants Tehran to feel the American blade cut into the bone. Superficial cuts as have been inflicted on Iran by US have done nothing to Iran. So what gash will be deep enough to cut into the bone? Hurting Iranian oil exports because that is where Iran draws most of it's exports at over 80%.

The biggest buyers are -

China 30.1%

India 16.7%

South Korea

Turkey 9.5%

Japan 6.8% (2016

Therefore it is very simple. Cut down Iranian oil exports and Tehran will hurt like never before. To do this Trump is not going lean on Somalia, Maldives, Timor as they don't buy any Iranian oil anyway. To hurt Iran Trump has to ask the countries that buy Iranian oil which of course by default keep the mullah regime intact. Off the bat China will be a struggle to comply to Washington's wishes. Next on the list is India. Now if India is given leave all the rest will also ask for leave. Thus actually making mockery of the sanctions. It's no point in locking a door but then for access giving the keys to all and sundry.

You might as well not lock the door or in this case what was the point of going back on the nuclear deal !

For your information Europe doesn't import major portion of it's oil from Iran anyway and many European companies have cut their ties with Iran cause US business is more important to them.

Additionally it has been decided to use UCO & IDBI banks for payments as they have zero exposure to US banking system.

Iran has already agreed to increase imports from India to make SPV use easier.

Meanwhile Pakistan is so apprehensive of Ameri an sanctions it does not dare import a single oil barrel from Iran.

India isn’t planning to buy any Iranian oil in November, raising the prospect that Tehran will lose another major customer as U.S. sanctions hit and spurring speculation over whether China will follow suit.

India is joining other Asian buyers such as South Korea and Japan that have already halted imports from the Persian Gulf state before American restrictions take effect in early November. It’s unclear if China, the world’s biggest oil importer as well as Iran’s top customer, will persist with purchases.

Indian Oil Corp. and Bharat Petroleum Corp., the country’s two largest state-owned refiners, haven’t asked for any Iranian cargoes for loading in November, according to officials at the companies. Nayara Energy also doesn’t plan any purchases, said an industry executive. Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. hasn’t made any nominations for that month, but may do so later, a company official said.

The companies are the four largest buyers of Iranian oil in India, accounting for almost all of the country’s imports from the Islamic republic. Final decisions on purchases aren’t due until early October, so the refiners could still change their minds. The officials and industry executive asked not to be identified because of internal policies.

They said they'll put sanctions on any company which is involved in business with Iran. That's the reason Airbus decided to scrap the deal they made with Iran. It's not just the payment method but the companies have to protect their interests in US as well which are much bigger in most cases. All the EU is doing is providing an alternative payment method but it's unlikely that Oil companies would even go for Iranian oil after November.
