There are very few countries on this planet which have worldwide access to facilities. While many countries declare they have sophisticated fighter jets...few can actually fly them very far around the planet due to logistics.

So deals are cut. If the US gets a hand in one place maybe they offer access to a logistics base somewhere else in return.

But you forget, the Americans always abandon their pawns. Ask the Philippines in 2012 (lost a chunk of territory to China), Ukraine in 2014 (lost a chunk of territory to Russia), Vietnam (lost a chunk of territory to China)... or ask India in 1962 (lost a big chunk of territory to China).

US does not allow her allies to establish permanent military bases on her soil. But they will establish bases in their soil. Just tell the hindus the truth before they go bonkers.

It was not a mistake for India to start the 1962 war, after all China at that time was in the middle of our worst ever famine (Great leap forward). It was the best time to attack China from a pragmatic standpoint, and that's what Nehru did with his Forward Policy.

The mistake was India believing that American support was the only thing they needed. But as they should know by now, America always stands back and watches happily as their pawns lose large chunks of territory to China/Russia. India lost Aksai Chin for example, the Philippines lost the Scarborough shoal, Vietnam lost the Paracel islands, Ukraine lost Crimea, etc.

however, its 2016... and India will now get access to Okinawa, Guam, Subic, RoK.. listening posts, intel gathering ops, trade disruption capabilities, the highly populated eastern coast finally in range of a variety of strategic weapons and quick response forces.

an increased American presence also reduces the likelihood of major conflict between India and Pakistan, and one would be extremely foolish to underestimate the kind of leverage the Americans have over the Pak civil/military establishment, which is much greater than they'll ever have with India.

Who says it has to be manned by US troops? All the US needs is a place to land planes/UAVs and refuel ships. The same thing happens in Pakistan...where are all these US troops in Pakistan???

Everywhere that provides logistics support for the US military is essentially the same as a US military base, and they have a lot of wars in Asia that they will use it for.

But it is much cheaper for them, since they can allow the vassal nation to do all the maintenance and upkeep work on the bases.
