This isn't true, the 42 ordered ARE to be Super standard, the Super upgrade has all but been finalised. HAL are already testing most of the modifications in their facilitates like the new Cockpit, sensors etc

That deal had to be signed in dec 2013 during putin visit but was not

they are not super sukhoi. they are regular ones with minor upgrades.

Bro, i've seen it myself in HAL's official newsletter but that was some time ago and I had posted it in the IAF sticky, I'll try and find it for you....

I saw the pictures of the test rigs bro, some senior HAL guy was reviewing the progress of this program, it was officially called the "Super SU" upgrade- words may be lies but the pictures weren't

We won't have the upgrade till n036 aesa undergo full testing simply because there is no russian aesa present at this time.

And only 5 n036 have been produced so far,do the maths.

Its good. Why bother IAF with entirely new aircraft like Rafale when SU-30 with upgrade can perform almost every task. Emphasis must be given on speedy induction of Trainers as well as Next Gen. FGFA + LCA-II. This Rafale BS has gone far too long and deserves a burial.

those test rigs could be rigs for regular ones or for incremental upgrades as well. mkis are delivered in batches with minor incremental upgrades. besides, having TEST rigs doesn't mean the tests will come out positive, in acceptable time frame, in acceptable costs. it could very well mean those tests failed and hence the program reverted back to normal sukhois.

HAL is known for chest thumping and giving out fantastic media statements only to be humiliated by their own words as time goes by.

in any case, the deal is done. we will be buying those kits from russia at 38 million dollars each. if you have any concrete links which seals the deal, not TEST rigs!!, please do share.

PC-7 MK2 and HAWK MK.132 AJTs are already being delivered in large numbers- forget the false despair over the HJT-36 IJT, if it was never inducted the training regime for there IAF would be affected pretty much 0%.

RCS does not mean it cannot be annulled. A larger plane carries, or can carry more jammers. and has a larger radar.

That may be taken care of in Super upgrade. Not every plane in IAF inventory will be stealthy and Su-30 excels at what its intended for .
MRCA like Rafale with more than $150 Mill. price tag does not deserve to be inducted. Sub systems can be bought if necessary. Hugely over priced Frenchies must be avoided.

Rcs for mki cannot be reduced without use of a radar blocker and thats pretty tough to implement.

having a large RCS is only a worry if you can be targeted, if you have powerful jammers that make getting s lock on you an issue then the entire paradigm changes. The USAF admitted as much in that infamous Red Flag 08 vid.
