India - "Made in Britain"

The collection of several independet states into one by British to create an artificial entity called "British India" was destined to be divided once British had left.

Hence initially two major countries were created Pakistan and another one "India". The latter chose to take the name from Britian so that she could have an artifical identity and lay false claims on the heritage of the region.

These are the facts. The mythological Mabaharat etc is just that - a mythological region. Equivalent to myhtological things found elsewhere in the world. You can for example read Greek mythology for fun but if you really start believing in that stuff, it is upto you. But that does not make it a fact.

India was the European term for the rich fertile land south of China, originating from the Greek word for the land "beyond the Inuds", the farthest extent of Ancient Greek conquests. Current Indian Subcontinent was Britain's East India while Indonesia was called Nederlands Indië (Dutch term for India). Vietnam could also be French East India, instead of French Indo-China, had it not been for Vietnam's Sinic influenced culture and people (which confused the French).

Lol, every land always existed, whatever you call it. It's set in stone right? (literally!)
You should tell it to the original poster, not me. Hardly anybody would deny the fact that the country India we live in today is a republic, a political expression. In that case, almost every country is infant given the concept of Nation State is in fact a late 18th century concept itself based upon generally on single race single language theme in Europe.

But India, that was beyond Indus was a generalized term used by Perisans and the Greeks; More the Greeks traveled inside the Gangetic plain, more their knowledge became clear about it's people, culture and languages. The diversity was acknowledged by every Greek and Chinese travelers, but instead of bothering themselves with individual names of provinces like Magadhans, Bangas, Kalingas, they prefered the easiest way to call us the Indians which was later picked up naturally by Portuguese and other European corporate world.

No matter how resolutely you try to ignore it, a cultural India, not just 'a piece of land set in stone' always existed, which was defined by a collection of republics and nominal monarchies (sixteen Mahajanapadas), a dominant spiritual belief system and its immediate extended derivations, languages and social systems. History will continue to remember and cherish this legacy only, nothing else.

Hmm..
Mahabharata is one of the four great epics of the World, two of them being India and the other two are Greek.

Now, forget mythology for a moment and tell us, why do you think India was destined to be divided ?

If India's identity is artificial, then what is real ?

If you create an artifical country by force combining several independent states into one, it is destined to be divided once the binding force that held it togehter leaves.

No rocket science there.

The modern day India even has several states which were occupied after British left and fighting for independence, so what makes you think you can force artifical "Indian identity" upon them?

We all know the that India was made for the profit by some English shareholders. It was a company called "East India trading" that made India that you know today. The question here is should Indian's do Puja to East India Company because it made India for them.

So should Indian's be thanking this company ( no it is not Mcdonald's ) that did fast food equivalent of making a country? I bet the Indian's wish it had been Mcdonals Fast Food franchise that had come and Made India. That way they would have secretly been enjoying Big Mac meals since 1750 and India would have been called "Big Mac country". No such luck instead India got fathered by boring English "East India Company".

Before East India Company came along to make few pounds most Hindus were playing muppets to Muslims. So much for the Hindutwas of today. So most of these Hindus ought to be thanking the British for giving them "Azadi" from the Muslims overlords. Had they not come maybe today the Hindu's would still have been playing muppets to Muslim rule?

Below is the badge of the company that Made India and freed the Hindu from slavery under Muslim rule.

I will let @nForce who apprently has read lot of books on Hindu mythology have his say here to disprove that East India Company is not father of Indians.

Not a single princely state (except kashmir) had been included in the Indian republic without the consent of its people who voted overwhelmingly in favor of India. So, India remains as it is, only your theory fails.

Pakistanis were saying and dreaming about the same thing for the past 67 years but it was your country that got divided into 2.. What an irony !! And there is a big possibility of history repeating itself.

Yeah right, like Nizam of Hyderabad voted for India with such a fervor that India had to send military force to thank him personally. [/Sarcasm]

And into the thin air goes your theorey of "Not a single princely state (except kashmir) had been included in the Indian republic without the consent of its people who voted overwhelmingly in favor of India."

Err.. You must be slow in reading before arguing. There is a difference between consent of people and consent of Nizam. And people of Hyderabad wanted to join India. But even then 'several independent states' have come down to a single one, Hyderabad. Good :partay:

Separatist movements of Pakistan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'll be very honest with you: It was a miracle that East and West Pakistan back then still could work for more than twenty years as one country given the geographical realities where both were completely dependent on India for any sort of land or air link. It was just a matter of time, so the country was divided, we accepted it and moved on.

Don't tell me you have not been trying for the last 45 years or so to divide Pakistan further but always failed miserably. Pakistan is stronger than ever despite all the internal turmoil where Indian influenced predictions told the world in how many parts Pakistan will be divided by 2009.

And talking about separatist movements.. have you checked separatist movents in India? Oh well, we in comparison are still infants when it comes to that,
