India lost war with China but won Arunachal’s heart

.
They are neither occupied nor Tibetans. :cheesy:

Oh is it ..... all the NE states are under India's illegal occupation including Arunachal. And offcourse, the Indian Occupied Kashmir and Indian Occupied Punjab, and should I also mention the Indian Occupied Tamil Nad.

You are wrong. We don't consider India as an occupier. I don't speak for other NE states, but for mine. And i do know the ground facts better than you do.

.
Nice to hear!

But India should do more for Arunachal Pradesh, by improving logistics in that region, which will help Forest based trade there.

Opening top education colleges.

You're right man.

The problem is there is so less critical mass and environmental concerns that industries are difficult to be created in the state. However, tourism can be a massive industry in the state provided the state government takes similar initiative as NaMo did for Gujarat Tourism.

Arunachal is what one calls a "serene state". A lot of "peace" tourism aka those folks seeking to run away from the hectic city life, want to come there. But due to relatively difficult access to the state (zero air connectivity to the state as there's no airport over there and over-reliance on railways is a serious issue since most people wanting tourism of that kind end up exhausted after long train travels.

So they end up choosing either Himachal, Uttarakhand, J&K or my state instead.

Without infrastructure initiative, to bring Arunachal on par economically would be a challenging task.

How can we consider our own country as an occupier?

It is just like saying Mumbaikars are different from India.

Only Pakistanis have this weird notion of how "occupied" we NE people are.

Guess a bunch of stupid gunrunners can change their opinion for the entire region.

How about Balochistan and Sindh? Despite Jinnah managing to sell them the "Islamic state" dream, all you could end up with is raging attacks and insurgencies in a small country such as yours.

You really don't know anything about NE India.

Please be humble to learn about us and our perspective of life if you're so keen.

Why so many Tserings in Arunachal..?

It is a common name here in NE including my name. :)

It means long life, something like how Amar, Vijay etc are common names in central, north and south India.

There are many projects in the pipeline. It is time they are realised. As for tourism, the just concluded Tawang Festival was a major boost to tourism in the state. A railway line is coming upto Naharlagun and another to Pasighat. A airport is also being developed near Itanagar. There are talks of opening the Bhutan-Arunachal road for better road connectivity to Tawang and West Kameng District.

Tsering means long life in tibetan. It is not an aruanchali name per se. It is a name used by monpa, memba and khamba tribes of arunachal. BTW, Tenzin is an equally common name and my first name is also Tenzin

Damn! I just missed it by that much. Was busy at work.

A railway line is coming upto Naharlagun and another to Pasighat.

That's nice because a few friends of mine who were with me in Delhi (Arunachalis), had to everytime take a longer route to reach their home towns in the state.

Any clues about the project's timeline and costs?

A airport is also being developed near Itanagar.

What is the interest of local players in airport investment? I know this may sound crazy but a small airport with the assistance of AAI and a public-private investment would definitely be better in services and would enable create competitive jobs apart from enhancing connectivity.

I just wish they can bring down the effing state fuel taxes and octroi for airlines. Of late the air fares are getting too expensive to fly around.

Enlighten me on this one, but wasn't this in discussion since a few years back? In fact, there were even talks of putting Railways from India to Bhutan (due to significant Indian tourism in that country)?

I mean look at this:

Putting railway lines through Bhutan (by paying them a transit fee and assuring local jobs for the locals) would be an excellent plan if executed. The Railways is really pushing capacity in Siliguri corridor and if we have to increase connectivity, I don't think the chicken's neck will be able to take the pressure in the near future.

Wonder how come our government never thought about this one.

Surely the Bhutanese won't mind an economic proposition like this whereby even their local jobs are created.

Of course, it has to be narrow gauge.

Floods are a regular feature in IOST (Indian Occupied Southern Tibet). By the time Indian authorities get their act together, get through the jungle of Indian bureaucracy and have a patrol with relief reach an affected area, the Chinese would have already completed the required relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction work done. Not only are the Chinese efficient and better equipped the northern and eastern edges of IOST are easier accessed through Tibet which is her mother territory.

You're funny with those new coined-up terms. Don't worry, we're planning to expand the siliguri corridor to make our infrastructure better.

And if you've studied geography, you'll know what I am talking about.

r u nuts.. chinese have so poor reading skills.

but even if there is a rematch the result will be like it was during Sikkim annexation with India... Chinese cant do anything there now. you can open another thread to discuss the results of a rematch if it happens.

Dear friend,
sikkim was not annexed to India, almost all of the voters of sikkim voted for merger with Indian union.

First of all lemme tell you on behalf of everyone that your posts are a piss off utter nonsence to read.
Loll Indian occupied this and that . Also add Indian occupied Bengal, rajasthan, Uttaranchal :blah::blah::blah:

If entire India is occupied ten what is left for us
We broke apart, destroyed, humiliated and tore your nation into pieces in 1971, Don't force us to do that again. I belong to punjab and as a sikh just letting you know give us back our punjab and Lahore. :azn:
Our nuclear subs are ready to shower some uranium on your guys(courtsey Sinochallenger)

Now you know what even the predator drones firing missiles on your country is being secretly operated by RAW. What a humiliated nation that didn't even get an apology.

Loosers talking about occupation by India

It will be broad gauge, IR has abandoned laying meter gauge, haven't you heard about Project Unigauge. Bhutan will get branched line from different sections in Assam.

I don't know about the timeline and cost, but the railways have completed survey in some places and land acquisition is in progress.

Anyway, i would still have to use Guwahati as the railway transit to go home :(

There are no local players in the state per se. I think it will entirely come under AAI like the Gaya Airport and not many airlines would start services there due nto lesser number of passengers. If, however, the costs are not too high, travelers from Arunachal prefer airways as it saves a ton of time.

I am not sure about railways through Bhutan to tawang or west kameng, the terrain is just too difficult and with landslides even roads are a mess throughout the year. BRo is 24/7 at work.

There are plans to open the existing route from Tawang and Kalaktang(in West kameng) to Bhutan and from there to West Bengal. That will save us from the frequent Assam bandhs.
Interestingly, helicopters going from guwahati to tawang fly over Bhutan and not West Kameng.
