What's new

India lost in Afghanistan , pakistan won

So Soviet bases all along our Western flank and india on our east....somehow this would be a safe place for Pakistan to exist? As we know, Russians have no qualms about assisting barrel bombing dictators in massacring their own people - you think they wouldn't green light India in invading Pakistan?

There is just no way Pakistan would have survived as anything more than a Soviet puppet and worst case scenario, it would have been overrun by India while the Soviets offered full support from the west and the Indian ocean.

Not to forget that nexus between India, Afghanistan, USSR, Pakhtun Separatists and Baloch Separatists, is almost as old as Pakistan itself.

RE: that has got to be the most retarded analysis i have come across.. but then again you are india educated...
:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

Safron Color is used because??
India Is RSS(safron terrorists)

i used to live in quetta in early 93 94,,, though we were kids.
but Baloch kids used to taunt us that we will break Pakistan (god forbid) with the help of Rusia... but it was back then.
and in 2007 they used to say we will brake you with the help of India. it means Russia support is over for them.
now PTM , Bla say they have the help of India and america. (ali wazir openly admitted and asked america to help against GHQ rawalpindi in charsada)
but guess what ????
India is always on the losing side and will be.....

.
World shortest peace deal shows victory of Pakistan !!! o_O ??? So much influence and cant make one deal work ???

Peace deal is over?....

no

US is withdrawing, india & co are screwed.

Yes, the government that can't secure Kabul properly. Because atleast that is better than Taliban according to me.

I agree better in

corruption

drug lord trafficking

Oppression

boy rapes

poor governance

etc

Lol, that is hilarious. No wonder Indians cannot function outside their country, they forget the ground reality and live in their own fantasy.

We have been in Afghanistan long before the first Gangu left its primordial Gangetic ooze, and will remain in Afghanistan long after the last Gangu is extinct.

he didnt even do a basic fact check.... but then again according to he is top exe. that meets Lockheed Martin country manager every day (i.e. tea boy services)

As the Pentagon played down the gravity of new Taliban attacks in Afghanistan, US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad on Thursday said he met with the insurgent group's political chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and his team for a "candid discussion" on next steps.

The recent attacks on Afghan forces had cast doubts on a four-day old peace deal between the insurgent group and the United States.

In a tweet, Khalilzad said his conversation with the Taliban chief was followed with a "constructive phone call" with US President Donald Trump.

"We all agreed the purpose of the US-Taliban agreement is to pave the path to a comprehensive peace in Afghanistan," he said.

Khalilzad said that the US was committed to facilitating the prisoner exchange, which he said was agreed in both the US-Taliban Agreement and the US-Afghanistan Joint Declaration.

"We will support each side to release significant numbers," he said.

"We must act on all fronts to clear the road of obstacles that slow our progress toward intra-Afghan negotiations. I once again call on all Afghans to rise to the occasion, put country first and not to lose this historic opportunity," Khalilzad concluded.

Khalilzad's comments come after the Pentagon on Wednesday played down the gravity of new Taliban attacks in Afghanistan.

Since the signing in Doha on Saturday, the militants have ramped up violence against Afghan forces, ending a partial truce and casting a pall over peace talks between Kabul and the Taliban, due to begin on March 10.

“There were a variety of attacks over the last 24 to 48 hours. And they were all beaten back," said General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the US military.

“What is important, though, for the agreement: we're on day four, this was small, low level attacks, out on checkpoints, etcetera,” he told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Afghanistan’s interior ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi on Wednesday detailed 30 attacks by the Taliban in 15 provinces over the previous 24 hours that left four civilians and 11 Afghan soldiers, dead, as well as 17 insurgents.

But Milley said “the Taliban have signed up to a whole series of conditions,” and he noted what has not occurred despite the latest violence.

“Of significance: there are no attacks on 34 provincial capitals, there are no attacks in Kabul. There’s no high profile attacks, there's no suicide bombers, there's no vehicle-borne suicide, no attack against the US forces, no attack against the coalition,” Milley said.

“There's a whole laundry list of these things that aren't happening,” he added.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper told the same hearing that the Taliban were honouring their pledge under the accord to stop attacking US and coalition forces, but they had not followed through on an obligation to reduce the overall level of violence.

Esper said some of that was the challenge the group has in controlling its rank and file.

“Keeping that group of people on board is a challenge. They have got their range of hard-liners and soft-liners. And so they're wrestling with that, too, I think,” Esper said.

An American military spokesman said the US launched an airstrike against Taliban fighters in southern Helmand province on Wednesday to defend Afghan forces.

Under the peace deal, US and other foreign forces will quit Afghanistan within 14 months, subject to Taliban security guarantees and a pledge by the insurgents to hold talks with Kabul.

US forces invaded more than 18 years ago, after the 9/11 attacks on the United States, to overthrow the Taliban government that had sheltered Al Qaeda.

You're one of the smarter ones....I thought you knew the Soviets had an eye on Pakistan all along. Indeed, once they consolidated power in Afg, they fully intended to support India in dismantling Pakistan. Pakistan was battling the USSR for its own survival.
Pray tell me, what does Pakistan have to offer that soviets want so badly? Soviets had zero interest in South Asia, if they had the first country they go after will be China. India barely made ends meet during the 80-90's. Read something more about why the Soviet Union send troops to Afghanistan instead of spinning alternative theory to feel important.

.
We want them in Afghanistan to serve our foreign policy initiative yes. But there is nothing to be idolised.
Exactly.
We have no other option because other afghan governments have a great tendency to be a namak haram and bite pakistan. And soon they will get close to India and that means more terrorist attacks like APS on our soil. Whatever Taliban believes in the point is they will favor pakistan and not go against us.
But that's it nothing more than that. There ideology has no place inside pakistan.
You can tell silent_poison is a masochist,, you can tell he likes being pegged with a massive Shaheen missile effigy.
And pakistan wears that Shaheen missile strapon.
Wrong answer. Back in the day you had no problems dealing with the USA either, on one hand, you got US and NATO helping you with mil equipment and training on the other you had Taliban working along with you helping them set up madrassas in Pakistan to train Muj fighters. How did that work out for you?

Now, you are on the wrong sides of the west what you are left with is a bunch of madrassas training fighters and each and every mullah setting up his own madrassas in your tribal regions, new ethnic fractions like PTM, BLA emerging and impending civil war in Afghanistan after the US leaves. There is nothing to celebrate here.

Neither of which will affect India in any way, so it's better we stay out of the mess and let Pakistan 'deal' with unstable Afghanistan.
Grapes are sour pajeet

.
You didn't fear of a Soviet invasion, you had Kashmir in mind that's your biggest reason for getting involved. Soviets had zero interest in ruling Pakistan or Afghanistan. They wanted to help their commie friends in Afghanistan. The US saw an opportunity to mess up the Soviets and took it, Soviet stupidity was to fight a war that's backed by the US. For whatever reason Pakistan got their hands in and later on there was not enough courtesy from the US or the west which is quite understandable considering how they operate and how you operate.
well if you think Soviat was here for afghan mountains then you are wrong.
it was soviat plan to first come to afghanistan and then cutting pakistan's balochistan from the rest of pakistan. to gawadar.
and americans too tried this because the needed supplies for their army. but thanx to our agencies, army for their proactive approach that amerians are now licking their wounds.
and hopefully they will remember it for long time.

haha gwadar... What happened to Karachi? Not good enough for USSR?
You get the gist.

.
The Taliban is the most powerful faction there. The ANA losses have been so severe
-Taliban does not control even one of Afghanistan's 50 largest cities & town.
-Afghan govt controls 50% of area and Taliban only 15% (rest is contested)
-Taliban does not have a single aircraft or heavy weapons. Meanwhile ANA has super tucano attack planes, helicopters and transport air craft. Taliban haslve Zero APCs , ANA has hundreds.
- Taliban is not recognized as ruler by a single country but Afghan givt is recignizwd by all and is the one holding Afghan membership at UN.
-Afghan govt revenue is 50 times larger than Taliban.
-Afghan govt runs a 50 times larger and modern admin setup and orgs than Taliban.

withdrawal negotiations between henry Kissinger and his vietnamese counterparts for Vietnam took approximately 9 years all the while the war was on its peak. but no matter what india does it will never succeed. so either India throws its weight in it or not things are not in their favour.
