India: Living in the Pocket of Uncle Sam

If China threatens India ...may be but then again in the past after 1962 we never joined the NATO club like Pakistan did.

NATO didn't need you then.

But the Americans were there in Indian Occupied Kashmir. They raised your Force 22 or something - established some snooping stations there and provided you necessary support.

Yes, you are good with Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Vanuatu, Impala - do you want me to name some more.

Yes, we are good. Contrary to popular belief, we have maintained good relations with all our neighbors except for Pakistan. Funny that you mentioned Bhutan whose protection is done by India and Maldives..who depends on India for everything from food to medicines to education.

My personal ambition is for India to become the France of Asia and as for nuclear bombs, Pak's nukes are now more a migrain to Pakistan herself than India.

You are entitled to your opinion and wishful thinking.

The two powerful nuclear powers on your either side and on you head are making your ambitions hard to attain. You can improve economically with US and western help - but that comes at a price.

Two nuclear powers, of which the stronger one, happens to be the smarter one. China won't start a nuclear war with India, not until they have assured protection against our nukes, and the ability to destroy all our delivery systems before we react. Pakistan is the only one who seems to have this ambition to start a nuclear war.

Thats your personal opinion..nothing more..but yes, during cold war US had an affinity for dictatorships making Pakistan a very suitable candidate.

Not to mention that we saved Maldives arses from PLOTE mercenaries once. Same with Sierra Leone, they have a memorial commemorating our contributions to bringing peace to the place.

2ndly why you people are hypocrites??? Why at time you don't consider Indian Newspapers Sources as reliable one and Mods here close the threads and why on some threads you Jump like Cheerleaders????
Quite aptly put. I could not have said it any better.

See,we have been mostly under US ban or sanctions for decades, mainly due to either our nuclear ambitions or they perceived us to be closer to the Soviets. Its just that lately they just could not resist the huge internal market of India, when India globalized its own market. Its purely a business relationship.Had India been a small country, like, say Cuba, then the yankees would not even have bothered.
And while the markets are open, and the relations normalized, then we would also like to make the most out of it,isnt it?Afterall US happens to be a very big market for India.I dont think there is anything wrong in having trade relations. Is there something in specific that is bothering you? Speak it out...

India grew at Hindu Growth Rate earlier. When it became friendly with the US, it grew more than that. Why don't you go back to Russia and ditch the USA, the poor guys helped you so much all along. And then see the tricks happening.

The only time when they were in India was when their over-hyped Spyplanes wanted to spy on China. Then that plane crashed before take-off, and we had to drag it out of the mud, and set up their spying station on Indo-China border.

USA was only there, 'cause we were the only one who would have agreed, and we only agreed, 'cause China had recently taken a part of Kashmir (though they very honourably stopped when they reached the edge of their claims).

No Pakistan won't start a nuclear war unless India pushes it to a level where no other options are left.

The US has a trade deficit with India so in any relation there's always a give and take and if we buy state of the art defense equipment that doesn't mean that we are doing anything wrong, and I do agree China, India and a lot of other countries including Pakistan and say Bangladesh are increasing the revenues of large US corporations but then everybody sells, China sells its cheap labor so does India or any other country - we will cease to do that when we move on to a different plane. We utilized their markets for years and they intend to do the same in China and India so its mutual - there is an advantage here - they bring in technology and know how which we lack - they bring in benefits to our labor class.

As for being a pawn or not everyone knows who's placed where and who are the real pawns and India hardly qualifies to be anybody's pawn - the US's biggest grouse with India is India is too independent for their liking but they now believe that they can go around that and collaborate in areas which are beneficial for everyone. They do not dictate to us and we do not to them.
This partnership took a decade to streamline and both understand each other very well.

Its not us who has to explain to world on a daily basis "Our nukes are safe and in safe hands". Anyways better shut your AQ Khan..he is spilling all the beans.

We are a free country. He can say whatever he wants.

It doesn't matter now - we are well past the stage where such things could hurt us.

No..we grew bcs we liberalized our economy and canned the socialist experiments and even then we were under sanctions after the1998 nuclear tests.
