people are again falling into the trap of "defending" their countries instead of showing up here to learn from one another. Nobody respects pseudo nationalism, nobody!

I only get pissed when someone attacks me personally through false generalizations about Chinese people. If you think that is defending a country then so be it.

Whats wrong with you guys, Citi group came up with these predictions, you don't like it go take it up with them. No one seemed to have issue when the same financial institutions predicted the Chinese growth, but now all of a sudden these institutions are full of dumb delusional people. Get a life ffs. These people are being paid in millions to do such predictions, you would think they know their shyte more then any of yous arguing here. :disagree:

If you read the first page, then you will see that I took issue specifically with their China prediction.

Which I felt was FAR too optimistic.

They always seem to miss the mark anyway. Either they predict too soon or too late. E.g. Their prediction of when China would surpass Japan was off by a decade.

Fair enough their predictions were a bit off the mark, but then again thats why its called a prediction, key word being likely. Even then you know they aren't talking out of their as* are they? They must have some basis of making such claims?

Either case they are talking about something 40 years away. And all the retards here talking about malnutrition, corruption, poverty and what not, tell me something 40 years ago did anyone think that China will be where it is today? Everything will improve slowly like it did in China.

As for fellow Indians here, doubters and haters are going to do what they do best, doubt and hate. Don't pay much heed to them, we need to keep doing our work, and we ll let the results do the talking. There is absolutely no need to reward the trolls with a reply.

My research tells me that China is not that far ahead of India and growth in India is actually more equitable than China. And my research also tells me that India has extreme regional imbalances with southern and western states at the top level of middle income HDI countries, while northern and eastern languishing near other bad areas of south asia and africa. I am thinking that southern indian states would be slightly pissed off in seeing their tax dollars going to finance these moribund northern/eastern states. Is there any opposition as such for that in these better off states? How does China handle their imbalances? Being of significantly low IQ, I'd have to learn these from others here.

I haven't seen or heard anything in regards to the bolded part and I'm from South India.

Honestly, if these guys were unable to even predict the Credit Crunch of 2008, I have no faith that they will be able to correctly predict something that is half a century away.

Their track record is useless... they are always off the mark. And even if they had a flawless prediction record, I would still be skeptical of such long-term predictions.

Predictions are nice, but I believe in what exists today.

And personally, I would prefer that China never becomes a "superpower" or a "global policeman". To me, that is all just a bunch of BS.

So why not neglect the thread rather than showing off your insecurities. Obviously you know that this is over optimistic don't you?

I hate to throw a wrench into this spirited discussion about which country will have the biggest cojones by 2050. But even if India eventually surpasses China in total GDP, China will have had decades of head start in developing advanced technology, a formidable military, and an alliance structure (such as a strengthened SCO) that may have effectively contained India to the subcontinent--India is already strategically surrounded by China-friendly Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. India will have a heck of a time breaking through Chinese strategic encirclement. That means the 21st century is still most likely to be a Chinese century.
