Malnourishment in India may be happening because of other reasons as well. There is a difference between "food" and "nutritious food". Rice as well know is not that nutritious and actually contributes to diabetes and heart disease due to sugar and cholesterol, a reason India's average life expectancy maybe around 65?? Also, my research says that India's southern states already have HDI and other stats comparable to China's developed areas while the northern Indian states are lacking China's under developed areas by miles. If India's overall indicators have to improve, India's northern/eastern states have to get better rapidly. It appears that India's 4 southern states are on an automatic path to meeting/exceeding UNDP's goals and may have already done so as even their 2006 data looks good. The 2010 data, if any should seal it. I see two Indias here. The Indian government must focus on the Northern and Eastern States. India's western and southern states have conclusively proven that they take care of themselves. Maybe Chinese would want to study the two Indias (West and South versus North and East) as well and understand India better like I am trying to, instead of projecting simplistic statements that does not contribute to any one's learning. What say you lot?
