China has disputes with at least half a dozen countries and still continues as a member of UNSC.

Again, the ONLY requirement to be a P5 member, was to have been a major independent power on the Allied side of WW2. Nothing else.

India did not exist back then, that's why they were never considered. No one was going to give 2 permanent seats to Britain.

As for our disputes, China has not had any cross-border bloodshed for over 30 years. Our disputes in the SCS use coast guard ships and water hoses, nobody actually dies.

Whereas India's borders are soaked with blood, your border with Pakistan, your border with Bangladesh, you guys shoot everything that moves. Only about a month ago India used artillery shells on civilian villages in Pakistan, killing scores of civilians.

India in 2015 is more qualified to stake the claim for the permanent seat on UNSC than PRC in 1971.

China got her UNSC seat as US wanted China's stature upgraded to confront USSR.

Now it's India's turn to receive the same from US to confront China.

But in this case China has a veto, if China decides to use the veto what options does india have?

A strong south asian union would give sleepless nights to the powers that be. They hope that this never materializes.

Actually surmounting the issues is not a big deal but withstanding the adverse fallout of that from the power that be is the main concern.

Once the nations are strong enough to withstand that fallout, the agreements would be made public.

I foresee this happening in the next 10 years time.

Aswell as Pak (in the past)... Why are these countries sending peacekeepers? Coz of the fukin money! Not out if some civic sense of duty or other BS!

Also the track record of Indian peacekeepers is stained ... Specially after DR Congo episode (the only nation whose peacekeepers are banned by another country ...).

Doesnt matter if we are 2nd or 3rd. We are the highest contributors compared to P5. And it gives moral responsibility to question the P5. Sadly even Pakistani and Bangladeshi diplomats agree with India on this.

And we don't need to show our cards. It says it right there in the UN charter, you need the unanimous support of ALL the P5 members to carry out reforms. Even if one of the P5 members "abstains" it can't go through.
