India keeps war hysteria alive, says ‘spy’ held

@Jayanta They are pissed off that why Muslims like APJ Kalam took Indian Missile Program to such heights.

@Topic

Its better to be safe than sorry. Considering the image of certain nationalities created in India, it was a obvious suspicion.

@Luftwaffe Talking of stupid Indians, I wonder how you are not able to control few cities like Karachi and Quetta. And military bases attacked.

Do you know old methods are less prone to detection.

Jodhpur: Barely two days after the conclusion of Indian Air Force's air exercise 'Iron Fist' in Pokhran, a suspected spy has been caught passing information of the war games to an ISI operative in Pakistan.

Sumer Khan (34), a computer expert, was taken into custody by army intelligence from his house in Pokhran on Sunday and was being grilled by security agencies, SP Jaisalmer Pankaj Kumar Chaudhary said on Monday.

Intelligence sources said that Mr Sumer was sharing information of the IAF's exercise with his maternal uncle in Rahim Yar Khan in Pakistan for the past few days. His uncle has been working for Inter-Services Intelligence for the last few years, they said.

Mr Sumer is currently under the custody of the Joint Interrogation Cell in Jaipur where the security agencies are questioning him.

The sources said he was caught after his calls to Pakistan were intercepted by the army intelligence and Intelligence Bureau.

They claimed that Mr Sumer had been working for his uncle for the past two years and had been sharing vital information related to all the exercises, which have taken place in the region in the past two years besides the various defence installations in the region.

Following interception of his calls to Pakistan, he was caught from his home in Pokhran on Sunday morning.

A 10th class passout, Mr Sumer is an expert in computers and would talk to his uncle over phone in code words.

He would frequently travel to Pakistan and is believed to have passed on maps and other documents pertaining to defence structure in the western sector.

Now this guy's life is set...

What is the use on "spying" on these war games when the entire exercise was TELEVISED and commentated. There was nothing even remotely sensitive/classified about these exercises, all you had to do was watch DD!!

Are you sure there is nothing to spy in the exercise ???

What we see on DD is what happen in Air. Not what happen on ground.

And mostly it might not be serious thing. But someone passing information is a serious thing and I am glad IA can track that :D

Mr. JTT sometimes actually reading a article helps.

34 isn't his figure. It's his age. And 10th is not his age his educational qualification.

Is really that hard Mr. JTT ???

Grant the agencies this much that they would not arrest someone unless they were sure about being able to prove the charges in court.

The fact that he was passing info to an Uncle in RYK is bad enough. Iron Fist would obviously not be the 1st or the last. Now that he is nabbed details will emerge.

In fact here too ppl under the garb of ' discussing' pass ( read confirm) a great deal of info. This applies to posters from both sides.

By that definition of 'espionsge',the likes of Ajay Shukla should be shot dead.

It's not only about the 'Iron Fist' exercise information but also about the defence installment information in the area. Besides he was a regular visitor to Pakistan. So I think he is guilty and it must be verified that did he carried any sensitive information along with him when he visited Pakistan.

India arrests man for ‘spying for Pakistan’

JAIPUR: An Indian man has been arrested on charges of spying for Islamabad on military war games staged on India’s border with Pakistan, police said on Monday.

The 35-year-old man is accused of passing on details of the exercises held by the Indian Air Force on Friday in the western desert state of Rajasthan, senior state police officer DS Dinkar told AFP.

Dinkar identified the man as an Indian national called Sumaar Khan and said he was allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, ‘passing information related to Indian defence installations and military activities’.

Police alleged the man used mobile phones and Internet to transmit information but did not say when he was arrested.

Both India’s President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh attended the drill, codenamed ‘Iron Fist’. afp
