India, Iran discuss undersea gas pipeline bypassing Pakistan

No worries let them spend huge amount to build it .. we will use it in war time and it will be easy target ... :)
thats what i was thinking. Just a torpedo from our sub can destroy that.

Okay this is my theory, India may have asked USA to pressurize Pakistan to allow its gas-pipeline from somewhere near the shore where it is more manageable, affordable and practical. Nawaz Shareef, being the person he is, may have given some indication of approval to India.
This itself will defeat the whole purpose ! If pipeline passes from Pak Territory then it will be by land only but its difficult given pak policy towards terrorism creating tensions and give it an edge to stop energy anytime it wants. If outside it will not be possible for it but same time it will be very costly to build and maintain, now everything depends upon is it economical against Shipping or not ?

Pakistan can't even protect Chinese in Baluchistan, how will they provide security for an Indian pipeline

BBC NEWS | South Asia | China workers killed in Pakistan.

Three Chinese engineers have been killed by gunmen in Pakistan's troubled south-western province of Balochistan, police have said.
Their Pakistani driver also died in the attack in the town of Hab, near Karachi. The engineers had worked at a local cement plant, police said.

Unconfirmed reports say the Baloch Liberation Army claimed the attack.

Chinese workers have been targeted in recent years by local militants involved in a long-running insurgency.

Pakistan's government condemned the killings as an "act of terrorism" aimed at harming ties with China and promised all measures to prevent such acts in future.

'Act of terrorism'

The engineers and their drivers were ambushed in their vehicle by gunmen on motorcycles, police said.

The attackers struck as the workers were leaving the Attock cement factory.

Two Chinese died on the spot while the third succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Karachi, police said.

They said engineers were not accompanied by their guards at the time of the attack.

A local police chief condemned the incident as "an open act of terrorism".

"Terrorists have killed innocent Chinese who have come to work here to help Pakistan," Pervez Zahoor was quoted as saying by the Associated Press news agency.

Close ties

In recent years, Chinese workers have been the target of militant attacks in Balochistan, where an insurgency involving armed tribal nationalists has been going on for some time, the BBC's Zaffar Abbas in Islamabad says.

A large number of Chinese construction engineers and technicians have been working on various state-run projects across Pakistan.

In Balochistan, they have been mostly involved in the construction of a big port at Gwadar.

Pakistan has very close relations with China as Beijing has been its major supporter in defence and other projects, our correspondent says.

The latest incident comes as President Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to make an official visit to Beijing over the weekend.

In May 2004, three Chinese port workers were killed in a similar attack at Gwadar.

Point is how will you reach to the pipeline. If war happens Pakistan Navy will be nowhere to face India your Navy would be packed onshore not even be able to operate in your EEZ.
If suppose you takeover the pipeline do you think Iran will provide you gas fom it ?:rofl::rofl:

Pakistan bus raids: Balochistan gunmen kill at least 19 - BBC News

Gunmen in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province have attacked two buses, killing at least 19 passengers, officials have said.

The province's Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said unidentified militants boarded the vehicles travelling to Karachi on Friday evening.

Passengers were then ordered off and shot dead, officials said.

Balochistan has seen a long-running conflict between separatists and security forces.

No group has yet said it carried out the attack on the two buses, which happened near the town of Mastung, south of the provincial capital, Quetta.

"The armed men were wearing the uniforms of the security forces," Mr Bugti told Reuters.

Pashtun victims
An operation was launched after reports of the incident emerged, and at least five people have been rescued, officials say.

However, the number of passengers abducted from on board remains unclear,Dawn newspaper reports.

Fighting is ongoing in the area between the attackers and security forces.

Those killed were mostly ethnic Pashtuns, a local official told the BBC. They are natives of northern Balochistan.

While separatists have regularly attacked government and military targets, attacks on Pashtuns are a rarity, the BBC's M Ilyas Khan in Islamabad says.

He says officials believe this may be a tactical move by insurgents to put pressure on security forces who have recently carried out several "search and kill" operations against insurgents in the region.

Rebels in Balochistan have been fighting for greater autonomy from Islamabad, and a bigger share of the region's natural resources.

It will be outside Pakistan EEZ so you are going down a few thousand feet. To withstand pressure at that depth, the pipeline has to be stronger than the strongest submarine in service today. So please go ahead and invest in this great venture.

Nope EEZ are International waters. Any country can lay a pipeline in them.

And Indo-Iran pipeline will pass thorough Pakistan's EEZ, just like how Indian fiber-net submarine cables pass through them.
