Economic policies has to benefit the rich the most as they are the backbone of the economy and the country. More leniency given to rich means more wealth trickling down to the poor.

Socialist economies simply don't work very well

No, Modi is the man of the capitalists/MNCs. BJP is an ultra rightist party. His rule will see more Ambanis shooting up 27 stories residences out of the jungles of slums. Poverty will multiply several folds. Mind you, capitalism cares two hoots for ethics or socioeconomic justice.
