Well, it depends. From a humanitarian standpoint it would create more troubles for us and our over zealous "Ummah".. but from a neighbourly PoV we will be dealing with an even more bloodthirsty India.

Our best bet lies in keeping India preoccupied. SO yes, it would be beneficial. However, India's rise is something nothing(except Indians themselves if they screw up) can contain. The market's own size and some smart economic policies dictate that India has eclipsed its South Asian neighbours and will continue to cast an even more ominous shadow over them in the years to come.

Wait a week or so for my Article on Al-Bairuni and today's India.. and why I insist that certain regression is taking place which makes the idea of "people getting wiser" rather bleak for India. More polarized in thought process perhaps, but not wiser on a larger scale at all.

@Oscar; everything is cyclical. Those cycles are an inevitable part of evolution.... of people, of societies, of religions. It is always the lesser developed people, societies and religions that have to go through the most noticeable and violent upheavals as part of those cycles. We are seeing all of that around us.
So Al-Beruni's Hindustan (which is today's Indian Sub-Continent, BTW) is no exception to the rule, so is the rest of the world.

I absolutely agree. Regardless of the sanctimonious sermons, the region has all those characteristics defined back then.. just as we have intellectuals now, there were those back then who were objective in their assessment.. and some of their records are well worth heeding to as lessons for the future.
